Observability Launch

Starting today, users will notice a few changes when logging into the Primer dashboard. These changes have no impact on payments, checkout, or Workflows, but they do represent a tremendous step forward in Primer’s suite of data-focused tools.

What’s changing?

Upon login to Primer, users will now land on a Homepage, which houses useful documentation links and other information built to enhance the end-to-end onboarding experience for all merchants.

The former landing page, known as the Snapshot, is receiving an upgrade and is being renamed Observability.

All data previously found in the Snapshot, plus way, way more detailed insights, is now found in the Observability section of the dashboard.

Check out our latest blog for more details.

Your integrations page just had a makeover 💄

We've updated the interface of your integrations page to give you a smoother, more consistent experience with other dashboard pages.
Here are a few new things:

  • 👋 Goodbye tabs and tiles. All of your connected payment integrations are now displayed in a list format for better readability and browsing.
  • Therefore, the "discover" tab has been replaced with a "new integration" button and modal for a simplified experience. The steps to follow for adding a new integration remain unchanged.
  • ☑️ There are new filter and sorting functions so you can find your integrations quicker.
  • Activating and deactivating payment methods via processors has become much easier, and more visual than before. Simply tick or untick payment methods from the "update account" page as seen on the 2nd screen grab below.

This is live on all portals. Have a look 👀, and if you have any feedback on functionality or questions for our team, don't hesitate to reach out to your account manager.

💸 Disputes reporting finally made easy [Beta]

We're excited to be releasing the beta version of our Disputes product to simplify disputes management 🎉

🧐 What is it?
This new product offers a unified way to view disputes data across all processors: a single set of dispute events, and a single set of data points - all with great documentation.

The unified dispute lifecycle we've developed distils the various events of a dispute into one single view across all processors, so you no longer need a working knowledge of the idiosyncrasies of each processor you’re using - you only need to know Primer’s lifecycle.

💸 Your disputes data on Primer
Primer now lets you set-up disputes webhooks directly from the “developers” section of your Dashboard. By doing so, you can transfer dispute events data from Primer to any system - ie. a fraud engine.

This allows you to always receive disputes data in the same format and with consistent statuses regardless of the processor or payment method being used.

For more info on the dispute framework (types and statuses) we’re using on Primer, you can check out our documentation.

Your feedback is really important and will help us shape the future of this product for you and other merchants, so if you’re interested in trying our Disputes webhooks or would like to know more, please get in touch with our team and we’ll take care of the rest!

ℹ️ Disputes is currently in beta and ready for testing with two processors: Braintree & Adyen. If you're interested in Disputes but your processor isn't supported yet, please let us know as it will help us prioritise our roadmap.

🤏 Another small UI update to your dashboard

We’ve moved the user profile under account settings, which are accessible directly from the bottom left account menu of your dashboard.

🔑 For Admin users, we're also now showing the authentication mechanisms your colleagues are using so you can more easily enforce your 2FA security policy or help your colleagues diagnose whether they should be using Google or email and password to log into their account.

We’ve also given the entire section a bit of a makeover using our new design system, so your experience is even smoother 🍦

🔐 Secure your webhooks by setting up a Webhook Signature

Primer can now sign all webhook events we send to your server, allowing you to verify that the events were sent by us and not anyone else 🥷

This additional layer of security is optional, and our webhooks will continue to work without them, but we do recommend you utilise this new security feature.
➡️ To access this feature, simply go to the Webhooks tab in the Developers section of your dashboard and select the “Webhook signing” button to create your signing secret.

ℹ️  You can find more details and a guide on how to set this up in our docs

Primer 🖤 PayNL Gift Cards

Consumers can now use gift cards as a payment method via PayNL on Primer.
KaartDirect are some of the most popular electronic gift cards in the Netherlands, so accepting them can really set you apart from the competition.

🤏 We've made a small UX change to the Dashboard log in screen

You might have noticed a tiny change to the log in screen of your Dashboard: there is now a two step process for username and password, instead of the previous single step ✌️.

That's it, no impact on any of your credentials - we've implemented this to get ready for the upcoming SSO functionality. 👀 Keep your eyes peeled for this one in the coming weeks.

One more tiny thing. The Google social log-in now redirects you in your existing browser window instead of a pop-up 🎉

🧩 We're bringing the billing address module to Universal Checkout

You will now be able to add and configure when to capture the billing address directly from the Primer Dashboard 🎉

Collecting the billing address is an important part of any checkout flow but requirements on when to collect it vary greatly, including AVS, 3DS, and agreements with processors.

Going forward, no code is needed to support the complexities of when to avail the billing address form to the customer. 🙌
Setting up this conditional logic can all be done under the card payment method settings in the Checkout section.

As well as setting up conditional logic on when to capture the billing address, you can also create custom billing address forms for different scenarios to cover all use cases. This will ensure there are as few steps as possible to complete a payment, driving better conversion rates!

You can find more details in our docs here.

ℹ️ If you have been piloting this feature, you will now see your existing setup reflected in Dashboard
