A Message Regarding Recent Updates to Breeding
Summary
After our post deployment review of the latest breeding updates deployed on November 29 2022 and December 9 2022, a couple of issues were identified resulting in the need to take the following actions:
- All Legendary and Exclusive bred racehorses occurring from the November 29 2022 breeding update to the closure of the Stud Farm on December 10 2022 at 12:15 UTC will be refunded.
- Legendary racehorses that were bred between the December 9 2022 update and closure of the Stud Farm will have their attributes reassigned (further communications will be issued upon completion of this fix).
- The Stud Farm and breeding will remain closed until further notice.
Background
As previously communicated on November 29 2022, we introduced a new breeding algorithm, and subsequently followed up with an update on December 9 2022.
After the implementation of the breeding updates, two core issues were identified which are currently being rectified:
- The update to the breeding algorithm that went live on November 29 2022 resulted in changes to the maximum and minimum offspring starting levels for each non-genesis Breed Types.
a. To allocate levels within the ranges of the new Evo system, a change was made to the maximum and minimum offspring starting levels for Elite, Cross and Pacer Breed Types.
b. Upon implementation of the starting level changes, a change was unintentionally made to the maximum offspring level of Legendary and Exclusive racehorses as a result of increasing the minimum offspring starting level for these Breed Types.
- The December 9 update was intended to address the issue above (point 1b), however resulted in Legendary racehorses being bred with a much higher minimum level. Subsequently, Legendary racehorses were bred with higher levels than previously possible after the original change on November 29 2022.
Impact
The impact of the issues is that some racehorses have been bred with incorrect attributes.
Solution
To keep our outcomes consistent, predictable, and balanced, Legendary racehorses bred after the December 9 2022 change will have their attributes corrected. When this process is completed, additional communications will follow.
We will be issuing a refund of breeding fees to all owners of Legendary and Exclusive racehorses bred from November 29 2022 until the closure of the Stud Farm to account for the issues surrounding the imposed level ranges to these Breed Types as a result of the new breeding algorithm.
In addition, open races will be cancelled and new schedules paused while the reassignment is implemented. This is to prevent affected racehorses from racing during the reassignment.
Lastly, the Stud Farm will remain closed until further notice, while we continue to examine and verify the impact of Breed Type on the starting level of Legendary and Exclusive breeds in the new breeding algorithm.
