ZED RUN Tournament Changes
Let’s talk about tournaments…
The adjustments we made to both the weekly tournament schedule and the Sit and Go tournament lobby this week were designed to promote engagement and reduce fill times. However, this format overlooked the importance of entertainment as part of the player experience, and that’s on us.
So, we’ve listened to your feedback and here’s what we’re doing to fix it:
For the Week of Oct 16 (UTC)
Weekly Premiers will return to 12-gate, top 3 races, with Premier scoring. We’re also reducing qualification spots across the board, which means more meaningful payouts for stable owners each week.
To keep the Maiden tournament consistent while we prepare for some exciting changes, they’ll continue using 6-gate qualifying races, but return to Premier scoring.
All weekly tournaments will also:
- Return to sum of the best 10 races
- Have fewest races run tiebreaker
Additionally, XP multipliers will be readjusted as follows:
- Maiden: 5x
- <100: 15x
- <250: 30x
- <500: 50x
- Unsegmented: 100x
Beginning the Week of Oct 23 (UTC)
Our primary objective is to ensure that every racehorse finds a suitable event each week, even when the tournament's focus may not align with their strengths. To achieve this, we've devised four distinct proposals for rotating weekly schedules.
For a breakdown of the four proposed rotations, check out the brand new episode of the ZED Pulse 2.0, with DonkeyTeeth and Dan, our LiveOps In-Game Engagement Lead. They run through each proposal, with a breakdown of the what and why. We’re leaving the comments of the video open for you to give us your feedback about which of the four proposals you prefer!
The preferred rotation, as chosen by the community, will be in effect for four consecutive weeks, allowing us to evaluate its performance and make any necessary adjustments. Our rotation experiment is scheduled to kick off on October 23rd, UTC.
Sit and Go Tournaments
To balance the Sit and Go lobby and provide options for a wider range of racehorses, we’ll be adjusting availability in each class to the following on funnel rotation:
Open
Variance Open: 18 horses, 6-gate races, 2 rounds, top 2 progress, top 3 payout in final round
Stability Open: 12 horses, 6-gate races, 2 rounds, top 3 progress, top 3 even payout in final round
Training
Hybrid Training: 18 horses, 6-gate races, 2 rounds, top 2 progress, top 3 even payout in final round
Moving Forward
These changes aim to bring more consistency to the tournament schedule so players can confidently form consistent racing and breeding strategies. Going forward weekly premier schedules will remain consistent for a minimum four week periods before changes are made.
