01/11/2023 Release Notes
Hey all, we have a few items we'll be releasing this week, see below for details:
System Check (PR-466)
System Check allows the student to test their system before starting their actual exam to ensure they meet all system requirements. These steps for system check are identical to onboarding, and system check will run students through the following steps:
- Extension Check
- Chrome Permission Check
- Internet Speed Check
- Utility App Check (if set for the session)
- Audio Check
- Camera Check
- Screen Sharing
We record when the student starts and completes the system check, and both of those timestamps are listed under session details when viewing an exam. System Check is also something we turn on or off with a feature flag, so please let Engineering know if you'd like it turned on for a specific school. We can also turn the feature on in a demo course for anyone interested in seeing how it works in detail. Note that only customers using Onboarding 2.0 can use system check.
Other changes being released this week:
- (PR-602) - We've added a message to the start of onboarding 2.0 that will let the student know that the onboarding experience has changed. Only students that have taken an exam prior to December 28th, 2022 and have not taken an exam after that date will see this message.
- (PR-585) - There was an issue that was causing the windows version of the utility app to be presented to Mac users. This has been fixed so that now the mac version of the utility app will be presented to Mac users.
- (PR-599) - The DMV site was previously setup to always send students to onboarding 1.0. The DMV site will now send students to the correct version of onboarding based on how they are set via feature flags.
- (PR-590) - The "End Session" button in the Hybrid UI for Proctors was not ending DMV Interoads exams, we have fixed this.
- (PR-589) - There was an issue that caused the utility app to continually tell the user that they were disconnected from the internet. This issue has been fixed.
- (PR-583) - Onboarding 2.0 was previously not able to check different extensions based on environment (this meant developers couldn't use the extension for our development environment, it would always pull from production), this has been fixed. This will not cause any functional change to the production environment.
- (PR-393) - There was an issue that caused Proctors to see an unread message from every student in the room if any student sent a message. This has been fixed such that only the student that sent the message will have an unread message notification.
- (PR-615) - We've added logging for all steps to matching a student with a room. This will allow engineering to more easily troubleshoot issues related to students matching with proctor rooms in hybrid.
