📊One Reporting section for all your content

Reporting for tracks and labs now lives in one place. Instead of separate reporting sections per content type, you'll find a single Reporting section in the left menu that covers all your content.

🗂️See all your content in one set of reports

The Reporting section includes Activity, Users, Sessions and Logs. Each report shows tracks and labs together, so you can see how all your content performs without switching between pages. Use the Tracks and Labs filters to narrow the results to specific content.

The reports work the same way as before – the same metrics, filters and CSV exports. CSV exports include both content types.

⏱️Review your sandbox usage in the Usage report

The Usage report is now part of the Reporting section and available to all teams. Use it to see how many sandboxes your content started, how long they ran, and how much of your Hot Start capacity was used or left unclaimed. You can filter by date, track, invite, landing page, tag or author, and export the results to CSV.

The Usage report covers tracks only for now.

New invite and HotStarts settings: lock content until event start, set an access end date and pick a time zone for pools

We’ve released two new invite settings that let you decide exactly when end users can start your content and when their access ends. We’ve also added time zone selection to Hot Start scheduling.

đź”’ Let end users start content only when your live event begins

Live Event invites have a new setting: Lock content until event starts. Until now, end users could start the content up to 24 hours before the event. With the setting on, end users can still open the invite, register and see the content. They can only start playing it once the event begins, based on the start date and time set on the invite. This keeps end users on your session plan, and your Hot Start pool isn’t used up before the session starts.

Team members with access to the invite (instructors, content creators and owners) can still play the content from the invite, so your team can troubleshoot and get ready for the session.

The setting is off by default, and existing invites stay as they are.

đź“… Set the date when end users lose access to the content

In the content restrictions of any invite, you can now choose from three options to set how long end users have access to the content:

  • Forever – end users keep access with no end date
  • For a set duration – a period that starts when each end user claims the invite
  • Until a specific date – one date and time, in the time zone you select, that applies to everyone no matter when they joined

This date is separate from the event schedule, so access can end at any point you choose. After that date, end users can no longer start the content.

🌍 Schedule Hot Start pools in your end users’ time zone

When you create a Hot Start pool, you can now pick the time zone you’re planning in. The selector starts on your current time zone, and you can search for any other one. The pool’s start and end times follow the time zone you select. A tooltip next to the scheduler explains how this works.

Build and improve your content with the AI Assistant in Labs 2.0

🎉 We’re excited to launch the AI Assistant for content creators in Labs 2.0! Start new content from a short description, or open the assistant on existing content and ask for changes – the sandbox, the instructions and the checks, built with you right inside the editor. ✨ The AI Assistant works with your team’s own Anthropic API key, so your team stays in control of your AI account, limits and spend.

Create new content from a short description
Go to Create lab → With AI, describe what you want, and choose a duration and audience level. The assistant opens on a new lab and starts building it while you watch. When it’s done, you keep chatting to shape it.

Improve existing content by asking
Open the AI Assistant next to the editor and ask in plain language: add a chapter, rewrite a page, add a quiz, tighten the instructions or refresh anything out of date. You can also ask questions about your content, like what it covers or where the gaps are.

Share screenshots and files to debug or build faster
Attach a screenshot, diagram, PDF or text file to your message. Take a screenshot of an error in your lab and ask the assistant what went wrong, or share an architecture diagram and have it build the matching sandbox. The assistant can also save an attachment into your content, for example as an image on an instruction page.

Set up the full hands-on environment
The assistant configures the sandbox for you: containers, virtual machines, Kubernetes clusters, terminals, code editors, web app tabs and cloud accounts on AWS, Google Cloud and Azure.

Get tasks with automatic checks, plus quizzes
The assistant writes tasks with their setup, check, solve and cleanup scripts, so learners’ progress is checked automatically. It also creates quizzes with single-choice, multiple-choice, text and numeric questions.

Let the assistant test your content
Ask the assistant to play through your content. It runs a real session on your draft and reports which page, task or quiz broke, so you can fix it before learners ever see it.

Review every change before you publish
Everything the assistant does goes into your unpublished draft. After each request, you get a summary of what was added, updated and removed, with links to each change and a full before-and-after view. Nothing reaches your learners until you click Publish.

Connect your own Anthropic API key
To use the AI Assistant, your team needs its own Anthropic API key. A team owner adds the key once under Settings → API keys, and all AI usage is billed to your Anthropic organization. Your key is encrypted, tied to your team and never shown again after saving.

Read more about the AI Assistant and Anthropic API Key support.

Get the AI Assistant for your team 🚀
To have the AI Assistant enabled, contact your Customer Success Manager or our Support team 💬 – we’ll guide you through the setup.

The Virtual Browser, rebuilt for Labs 2.0

We rebuilt the Virtual Browser from the ground up for Labs 2.0. It’s a full Chromium browser that streams right into your content, set up with a single URL, with more control over what users see. We shaped it around the feedback you’ve shared with us over the past two years, and it’s available today.

Built around what you asked for most:
  • Copy and paste in both directions – users can bring commands, config or code into the application and copy results back out to their own computer.
  • Keyboard shortcuts in the browser – users can work with the same shortcuts they’d use in any other browser, from command palettes to editor commands.
  • Zoom that fits any screen – users can zoom the page in or out from the tab toolbar or with familiar keyboard shortcuts. The page reflows instead of stretching, so small interface elements stay sharp and readable.
  • Recovers on its own – if a user closes their laptop, drops their connection or refreshes, the browser reconnects by itself and opens on the same page they were on. No restarts, no lost progress.
  • Sharp, high-resolution display – small text and dense interfaces stay clear.
And more control for you:
  • A visible address bar – users see the URL of the page they’re on. You can show or hide it for each tab.
  • Configurable zoom – set a starting zoom level for each tab, and turn the zoom controls off if you don’t need them.
  • Content opens without waiting – the browser starts in the background, and the tab shows when it’s ready.
Getting started takes one step: add a new Tab, choose Web Browser and enter a URL. Read the Web Browser documentation to learn more.

Labs 2.0: build your own VM images, and webhooks support

🖼️ Image builder: your own VM images, built and versioned in Instruqt

If your content needs a VM with tools pre-installed, you no longer have to install them in a setup script every time a sandbox starts. With the image builder you start from one of Instruqt's base images, install and configure what you need in a live editor, save checkpoints along the way, and publish the result as a versioned image that's private to your team. Reference it in your sandbox config as your-team/image-name:v1 and your content boots with the work already done.

Already have an image? Import it from Google Cloud or upload a disk file and it lands in your catalogue ready to use. Read more

đź”” Webhooks for Labs 2.0

Webhooks are now supported in Labs 2.0. You can receive events in your own systems when a session starts, a sandbox is provisioned or a participant completes a task, without polling the API. Endpoints are configured under Settings, where you choose the events you want to receive and can verify deliveries in the Logs tab.

A refreshed navigation, ahead of Instruqt 2.0

We've reorganized the left hand navigation. Nothing you rely on has disappeared, but a lot of it now lives somewhere more sensible.

Why we're doing this

As we build toward 2.0, the old navigation had grown into a long, flat list under Settings that mixed account level configuration with day to day content tools. The new structure groups things by what you're actually trying to do, and gives us room to keep evolving in a way that stays easy to navigate.

What's new in Content

You'll now see Labs 2.0 alongside Tracks in the Content section. This is where our new lab building experience lives while it's in beta.

Share now covers more ground

Hot starts and Session limits (previously Track limits) have moved out of Settings and into Share, next to Invites and Landing pages. If you're setting up how people access your content, it's all in one place now.

A new section: Building blocks

This is new. Building blocks brings together the pieces you use to construct your content: Secrets, Sandbox presets, Custom resources, Host images, and Tags. These used to be scattered through Settings.

Reporting, split for now

You'll see two separate sections, Tracks Reporting and Labs Reporting. This is temporary. They'll be merged into a single reporting experience in the coming weeks.

Inside each, you'll also find a new Logs interface. This replaces the old Logs entry under Settings. See the labs documentation for more detail on what's changed there.

Integrations gets its own home

Version control, Webhooks, LTI, and CRM are no longer buried in Settings. They now live in their own Integrations section.

Settings, now just settings

Settings is narrower and more focused: Team, SSO, API keys, and Cloud providers. If it's a global account setting, it's here. If it's something you use while building or sharing content, it's moved elsewhere in the new structure above.

Help, all in one place

Documentation for both Tracks and Labs 2.0, Support, What's new, and Inspiration library are now grouped under Help.

A couple of smaller things

You can collapse the menu to give yourself more screen space while you work. Your team switcher at the bottom hasn't changed.

From your profile menu, you can now choose a theme. Light or dark, for the night owls. Dark mode is still rolling out and not every page supports it yet, but the new labs creator interface and the Logs page do, with more pages coming in the next few weeks.

Tell us what you think

This is us laying the groundwork for 2.0 and where the product is headed next. If something feels off, or you can't find what you're looking for, let us know. Your feedback on this new structure will directly shape how we refine it.

📣 Introducing Global Sandboxes: Unleash Peak Performance for Your Distributed Teams!

We are thrilled to announce the rollout of our new Global Sandboxes (GS) feature for all Instruqt customers. This major update is engineered to deliver a significant performance enhancement for your globally distributed teams and learners.

Up until now, your containers, virtual machines, and website service hosts have been provisioned exclusively in the Europe region. For learners operating across other continents, this distance could, unfortunately, introduce noticeable extra latency when accessing their sandboxes.

Global Sandboxes (GS) is the game-changer, empowering Instruqt customers with the capability to provision these essential resources in the closest geographical region to the learner. Once this powerful feature is activated for your organization:

  • For ad-hoc play: We will automatically spin up the sandbox hosts in the optimal, closest region to the learner, guaranteeing a faster, smoother experience.
  • For hot start pools: Customers now have the strategic control to configure their pools with the region that is closest to their events or learners' locations. For existing hot start pools, we will initially default to europe_west1; however, you can easily adjust the region to suit your needs.

To confirm if this feature has been activated for your organization, please connect with your Customer Success Manager (CSM), or check for the new region drop-down field when provisioning a new hot start pool or editing an existing one. If you see the option to select a region, your team is ready to benefit from the speed and efficiency of Global Sandboxes!

Product updates: Docker Hub registry mirror, instructor role improvements, and new cloud service support (AWS Network Manager)

Product updates: Docker Hub registry mirror, instructor role improvements, and new cloud service support (AWS Network Manager)

We’re rolling out updates that make hands-on product adoption faster, simpler, and more reliable. Highlights include our Docker Hub registry mirror for lightning-quick, rate-limit-proof image pulls, new instructor role options that streamline access and invite governance, and support for AWS Network Manager so you can model real-world WAN scenarios in minutes.

Quick overview (full details below):

  • Docker Hub registry mirror: Rate-limit–proof, faster pulls via a pull-through cache. Update to instruqt/docker-28-3 and instruqt/k3s-v1-33-4.
  • Instructor role updates: “All Access” now auto-includes future tracks. Optional mode to disable invite creation (instructors can still present); pick one mode for your org.
  • AWS Network Manager support:  Build realistic WAN labs with Cloud WAN, Transit Gateways, and on-prem links. Enable in Settings → Edit Cloud Account → Services and select regions.

Instruqt Docker Hub registry mirror

We've developed a Docker Hub registry mirror to ensure your sandboxes provision reliably without being affected by Docker Hub's rate limits on unauthenticated pulls.

Docker Hub recently began enforcing rate limits for unauthenticated image pulls. This could cause sandbox provisioning to fail if a sandbox environment, such as a Kubernetes deployment or a direct Docker pull command, fetched an image directly from Docker Hub and exceeded the limit.

Our new mirror acts as a pull-through cache. This means when you pull an image, the request goes to our mirror first. If the mirror has the image, it's served instantly, bypassing Docker Hub entirely. If not, the mirror fetches it from Docker Hub, caches it, and then serves it to you. This process ensures that subsequent pulls of the same image are lightning-fast and, more importantly, are not subject to Docker Hub's rate limits.

What this means for you:

  • Reliable provisioning: Your sandboxes will be more reliable as they'll no longer be impacted by Docker Hub's rate limits.
  • Faster image pulls: Cached images will be pulled much faster, improving the overall performance of your sandboxes.
  • New pre-configured Images: To make the transition seamless, we've created new images with the mirror pre-configured. We encourage you to update your tracks to use these:
    • For Docker, use instruqt/docker-28-3. The older instruqt/docker-2010 image has not been updated.
    • For K3s, use instruqt/k3s-v1-33-4. The older instruqt/k3s-v1-32-x (and before) images have not been updated.
    • You can find more details and documentation on this in our Instruqt docs.

For advanced users who use custom images or want to configure the mirror manually, you can find the registry mirror at docker.registry.instruqt.io.

👉For detailed instructions, check out our Docker Hub registry mirror documentation.

Instructor role updates

All access improvements

Previously, the All Access permission only granted instructors access to existing tracks. With this update, instructors who are assigned All Access will now automatically gain access to all current and future tracks.

Benefit: This saves you time and reduces admin overhead, since you no longer need to manually update instructor access whenever new tracks are added.

👉 Learn more in our roles and permissions documentation.

No invite creation mode

We’ve added a variation of the instructor role where instructors cannot create invites. In this mode:

  • Instructors cannot create or share new invites or workshops.
  • Instructors can still present workshops they are invited to.
  • Instructors will only see invites they are added to, keeping your invites page private and controlled.

This ensures only authorized team members can manage invites, while still giving instructors the ability to run sessions.

⚠️ Note: You can only choose one mode — either instructors can create invites or they cannot. By default instructors can create invites, if you would like to switch please reach out to support.

How to add instructors to invites:

  1. Go to the Invites page.
  2. Select the invite you want to manage.
  3. Click the avatar icon in the top right.
  4. Add the instructor as a team member to give them access.

👉 Learn more in our roles and permissions documentation.

New cloud service support: AWS Network Manager

We now support AWS Network Manager service. Network Manager allows you to set up Cloud WAN, Transit Gateways and link on-premise sites, making it possible to build, manage, and monitor a wide area network (WAN) that connects your on-premises and cloud environments.

Benefit: This allows you to create tracks that simulate real-world WAN scenarios, so learners can practice with authentic networking setups.

How to add Network Manager to your AWS cloud account:

  1. Go to Edit Cloud Account in your Instruqt settings.
  2. Under Services, add AWS Network Manager.
  3. Select the relevant regions for your tracks.
  4. Save your configuration.
  5. Now you can use AWS Network Manager’s features in your sandbox.
