New Add-On: See how office or remote days impact productivity

No matter the location,
see how your team works best.

If you’re managing a hybrid team, you already know some days feel more productive than others. The hard part is understanding why. Without clear data on how the environment affects performance, decisions about schedules and policies often default to opinion.

With Time Doctor’s new Office vs. Remote Report - available as an add-on to your current plan - you can see how productivity, focus, and work patterns shift by location. Clear insights replace assumptions, helping you shape hybrid policies, support your teams, and build trust across the organization.

Go to Office vs. Remote

🔔 What’s New

  • Automatically classifies each workday as office, remote, or hybrid
  • Compare productivity, hours worked, start/end times, and idle minutes by location
  • Spot patterns that guide smarter scheduling and reduce friction in hybrid setups
  • Filter insights by team, user, or day type to see trends
  • Build hybrid policies rooted in fairness, transparency, and real data

💡 Pro Tips

  • Run a remote pilot with confidence: Track productivity, idle minutes, and start/end times to see if performance holds steady, or improves, outside the office.
  • Test hybrid setups before rolling them out: A/B test different work models across teams and use data to guide policies around office vs. remote days.
  • Coach with context: If performance dips at home, use the insights to provide structure and support, instead of relying on assumptions.

Ready to dive in?

Start using Office vs. Remote today to bring clarity, fairness, and smarter decision-making to your hybrid strategy. Visit our Help Center for a step-by-step guide.

Important: Deprecating support for Windows 10 32 Bit and Ubuntu 20.xx

We have an important update regarding the operating systems supported by our product. As technology advances, we must make changes to keep up with the latest trends and provide the best services to our valued customers. Therefore, we will be deprecating our Product support for Windows 10 32-bit and Ubuntu 20.xx by October 30th, 2024. This article shows how you can check if you have a 32-bit or 64-bit Windows operating system.

What does this mean?

After September 30th, 2024, new Time Doctor application versions will no longer be compatible with Windows 10 32-bit and Ubuntu 20.xx operating systems. This decision was made to ensure that we can focus on providing updates and features for the latest and most widely used operating systems.

We understand that this may cause inconvenience to some of our users who are currently using these operating systems. However, we highly recommend upgrading to the latest operating system to continue enjoying the latest updates and features of Time Doctor.

But don't worry, if you are unable to upgrade to a newer operating system, you can still use the old app version of Time Doctor on your old operating system. However, please note that you will not receive any further updates or features on this version.

For any questions or concerns, reach out to [email protected].

Extended data retention: New option to archive a user and keep their data

We’re excited to announce a new feature in Time Doctor that will make it easier to manage your user accounts -  the ability to archive users and retain their data, instead of deleting them.

This new feature not only empowers you to preserve vital work records for auditing or legal scenarios, but it also ensures that your project hour totals remain accurate, even if an employee leaves. Essentially, you now have the power to maintain a clearer and more comprehensive data trail for a full two years.

Archiving a user is simple - simply go to the user list, select the user you want to archive, and click the “archive” icon.

Archived users can be shown in reports.

We've also added an option to permanently delete the data. To ensure you make the right choice for your needs, we encourage you to read about the differences between these two options and learn how to use them effectively here.

If you have any questions or need help getting started, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Executive dashboard - compare user groups, not individuals

We're thrilled to announce the launch of our new Executive Dashboard feature in Time Doctor (admin access required). This dashboard is a powerful tool for comparing user groups within an organization to identify the teams or departments with the most hours tracked, the most productivity, work-life balance, and other issues to help decision-makers pinpoint areas of concern in the organization such as understaffing, overstaffing, poor management practices, and in general, get a better sense of cultural/structural problems versus individual issues.

As always, if you have any questions or feedback, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Option to track breaks (paid breaks)

Time Doctor is excited to announce our newest feature - break tracking! We are starting with paid breaks.

Now, you can track paid breaks in addition to tracking work hours. Admins can define breaks and select who can take them (the whole company, specific groups, or specific individuals). If any break is available to a user, they'll see an option to track time to it on their desktop app.

Break time can be seen on the Timeline report, as well as on the User Dashboard.

To access this new feature, simply go to Settings / Breaks.

Learn more about this feature here.

This feature is available on Standard and Premium pricing plans to users using the interactive version of desktop apps.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions or suggestions.
