Extended data retention: New option to archive a user and keep their data

We’re excited to announce a new feature in Time Doctor that will make it easier to manage your user accounts -  the ability to archive users and retain their data, instead of deleting them.

This new feature not only empowers you to preserve vital work records for auditing or legal scenarios, but it also ensures that your project hour totals remain accurate, even if an employee leaves. Essentially, you now have the power to maintain a clearer and more comprehensive data trail for a full two years.

Archiving a user is simple - simply go to the user list, select the user you want to archive, and click the “archive” icon.

Archived users can be shown in reports.

We've also added an option to permanently delete the data. To ensure you make the right choice for your needs, we encourage you to read about the differences between these two options and learn how to use them effectively here.

If you have any questions or need help getting started, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Executive dashboard - compare user groups, not individuals

We're thrilled to announce the launch of our new Executive Dashboard feature in Time Doctor (admin access required). This dashboard is a powerful tool for comparing user groups within an organization to identify the teams or departments with the most hours tracked, the most productivity, work-life balance, and other issues to help decision-makers pinpoint areas of concern in the organization such as understaffing, overstaffing, poor management practices, and in general, get a better sense of cultural/structural problems versus individual issues.

As always, if you have any questions or feedback, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Minor Updates (Dec 2022 - Apr 2023)

  1. New Job Role In Settings: The Gateway to Richer Insights

We have added a new field in Settings/Users called "Job role." Admins now have the power to select or upload job roles for individuals within the company.
The new 'Job Roles' setting is more than just an organizational tool—it's the future for our reporting. Soon, this data will fuel enhanced Time Doctor reports, offering deep insights and rich context tailored to each job role. So get ahead of the game and fill out your Job Roles now!

Stay tuned for more on what we are developing!

  2. Improved Usability: Remember Selected Groups and Projects for Future Invites

Wave goodbye to the hassle of manual selection and deselection. We’ve added a new checkbox feature on the Invite Page. This game-changing update remembers your chosen groups and projects for future invites at a single click! Get ready to experience a whole new level of convenience and speed in your workflows!

  3. Enhanced Filter: Identify Multi-Group Members

There is a new filter option within Settings / Users that enables you to easily identify users who are part of more than one group. This enhanced feature is designed to provide clarity on group membership, ensuring that each user is assigned to only one group. This precision is crucial for instances where group-level productivity ratings are preferred over company-wide ratings. This update simplifies user management and delivers a more refined perspective on productivity metrics.

  4. Introducting Unlimited User Groups for All Plans!

We are excited to announce a significant upgrade to our pricing plans: unlimited groups! Regardless of your plan, your organization is now empowered to establish as many user groups as required. This strategic enhancement will enable you to gain more profound and detailed insights as you segment your data. By providing unlimited user groups, we aim to give you greater flexibility and control in managing your team and extracting valuable information.

  5. Updated User Page: Prioritize Unaccepted Invites

We’ve made a recent enhancement to the User page. With this update, when you sort by the "Actions" column, users who have yet to accept invites will be prioritized and displayed at the top of the list. This adjustment allows for more efficient management and tracking of pending invitations, improving your overall user experience.

  6. Enhanced Project Assignment Capabilities for Managers

We're excited to announce an important update enhancing managerial controls. Previously, managers could only assign projects to groups under their supervision. We've now expanded this capability, enabling managers to assign projects directly to individual team members. This enhancement provides managers with increased flexibility in task allocation and more precise control over team workflow management.

  7. Preventing Missteps: Improved Confirmation for Email Notification Removal

We’ve made an upgrade to the Email Notifications page, created specifically to safeguard against unintentional errors. Now, when you choose to remove a notification, a confirmation pop-up will display the name of the notification set for deletion. This added layer of confirmation ensures the correct notification is removed, providing you with more control and confidence in your actions.

  8. Enhanced Clarity for Reports

We’ve made two small changes for a clearer and more user-friendly experience. Check these out:
    • Custom Export Report: Say goodbye to confusion! We have renamed the "Attendance" column to "Start & end times," ensuring a better understanding of your data.
    • Advanced Group Selection: Now you can effortlessly select members of all groups while excluding those without group affiliations. Enjoy precise data segmentation with ease.

Option to track breaks (paid breaks)

Time Doctor is excited to announce our newest feature - break tracking! We are starting with paid breaks.

Now, you can track paid breaks in addition to tracking work hours. Admins can define breaks and select who can take them (the whole company, specific groups, or specific individuals). If any break is available to a user, they'll see an option to track time to it on their desktop app.

Break time can be seen on the Timeline report, as well as on the User Dashboard.

To access this new feature, simply go to Settings / Breaks.

Learn more about this feature here.

This feature is available on Standard and Premium pricing plans to users using the interactive version of desktop apps.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions or suggestions.

This feature gives company owners the ability to protect employees' privacy by allowing them to choose which access levels are able to view screencasts of other people. This helps to create a more comfortable place to work by ensuring that employees' work remains private and secure.

Owners can select which access levels should see other people's screencasts by visiting Settings / Company Settings and modifying the "Who can see other people's screencasts" setting under "Permissions".
