Stake out roads, pipelines, and fences with intervals and offsets

Try the upgraded Line Stakeout tool in Emlid Flow to speed up road, pipeline, and complex site layout. You can now use the new By intervals and offsets mode to define stakeout intervals and apply horizontal and vertical offsets along any polyline in your project.

Intervals
Place stakeout points along a line at regular intervals. Each interval point is calculated from the line’s starting point, with elevations interpolated between vertices.

Horizontal offsets
Shift stakeout points to the left or right of the line by setting a horizontal offset. Offsets are applied perpendicular to each segment and adapt as the line changes direction.

Vertical offsets
Need to raise or lower the staked elevation? Just add a vertical offset to adjust the Z-value of each point along the line.

The new stakeout mode is available with the Survey Plan. Try it for free right away.

Intersection tool for geometry calculations in Emlid Flow & Emlid Flow 360

A long-awaited Intersection tool is available in Emlid Flow & Emlid Flow 360. Whether you're working from paper plans, recovering lost data, or calculating hard-to-reach locations, the Intersection tool helps you compute new points based on reference inputs.

The Intersection tool supports three input methods:

Distance–Distance
Define a new point based on its distance from two known reference points. This method is specially useful when working from legacy plans or when the target point is physically inaccessible, but distance measurements are available.

Direction–Direction
Use this method to calculate where two directional lines (azimuths) intersect, starting from two known points. It’s commonly used in design-based stakeout or when reconstructing points from partial field data.

Distance–Direction
This method combines a known distance from one point with a direction (azimuth) from another. It’s a flexible solution when working with incomplete or mixed-source data, such as old plans that specify only one direction and one distance.

The new feature is available with the Survey Plan. Get your free trial today.

Enhanced traverse tool and export settings

Enhanced traverse tool and export settings

Check out the Emlid Flow 12.2 update, which includes enhancements across multiple tools to make your fieldwork more flexible.

Updated export settings

Emlid Flow and Emlid Flow 360 now use consistent export settings. Both apps group formats by type and make it easier to configure exports through a more streamlined interface. The feature is available for free.

Traverse tool: calculate an inaccessible point from 2 points

The new From 2 points option in the Traverse tool allows you to calculate an inaccessible point or update a designed one in the field. Just use two auxiliary points aligned with the target point and a measured distance to it. Emlid Flow will then compute the coordinates for you—no need for a compass or protractor to determine the direction.

To use the Inverse and Traverse tools, upgrade your app with the Survey Plan.

Try the BLE connection with your Reach receiver!

Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) is now the primary connection method for Reach RS+, RS2/RS2+, and RS3 in the Emlid Flow app on both iOS and Android.

Enjoy faster connections, greater stability, and a smoother experience with your Reach receiver.

To get started with BLE:

• Enable Bluetooth on your phone or tablet
• Ensure your Reach receiver is running firmware version 32.2 or later
• Use Emlid Flow version 12.2 or newer on iOS or Android
• Grant location permissions in the Emlid Flow app

Learn more about BLE and try it yourself.

A new projection type for South Africa in Emlid Flow & Emlid Flow 360

We’ve added a new projection type in Emlid Flow & Emlid Flow 360—South-Oriented Transverse Mercator, to fully support coordinate systems in South Africa and Namibia.

Now, both apps allow you to access more coordinate systems based on this projection type for the mentioned regions.

This update also allows you to apply localization and create custom coordinate systems in these regions, ensuring seamless surveying workflows.

Check out the guides in our documentation to learn more about applying localization to your project or creating a custom coordinate system.

Take your CAD drawings directly to the job site for set-out or as-built

Emlid Flow now allows you to import your CAD drawings, which preserves the designs as they were created, including geometry view, colors, annotations, and block references.

You can stake out objects from the plan or simply use it as a background map without worrying about mixing it with field data. Emlid Flow smoothly handles even large projects with 50,000+ points, making site layout or progress monitoring a breeze.

Check out our guide for more details and try the new feature with the free Survey Plan trial.

Update Reach RX directly from Emlid Flow

You can now update the Reach RX firmware directly from the Emlid Flow app on both iOS and Android devices without the need for the Firmware Flash Tool. This feature is available for Reach RX firmware starting with version 1.6 and Emlid Flow for iOS version 11.11 and above or for Android version 11.8 and above.

Update your Reach RX in just a few steps:

  1. Connect to your receiver in Emlid Flow.
  2. In Settings, tap Firmware updates and then Start update. The Reach RX LED will turn solid blue.
  3. Once the update is complete, reconnect to your Reach RX.

For more details, check out the guide on the Reach RX firmware update in our documentation.

Try out the BLE open beta and connect to your Reach in seconds

The BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) connectivity with Reach is now available in Emlid for both iOS and Android. While the BLE feature is still in beta, feel free to use it to connect to your Reach RS+, Reach RS2/RS2+, and Reach RS3 with just a few clicks.

BLE makes it much easier to connect to your device. It’s also handy when your Reach can’t access the internet in the field. If your smartphone is connected to the internet, you can receive corrections even though your Reach doesn’t have internet access.

To use BLE, don’t forget to update your Emlid Flow app and Reach firmware to the latest stable version. For full guidance, check out our Docs.

As always, we’ll be happy to get your feedback on the new features!
