Rover position streaming

Hi everyone!

Starting with Emlid Flow 14.16 and the latest update to Emlid Flow 360, project managers can view the live positions of workspace members’ connected rovers directly on the project map.

To enable the feature, the manager needs to turn on the Share rover location option in the workspace settings. Once enabled, the positions of rovers connected through Emlid Flow by workspace members are streamed to Emlid Flow 360 and displayed on the project map in real time. Clicking a rover also displays the member’s and receiver’s details. Only workspace members can share rover locations, so make sure all field engineers are invited to the workspace.

Learn more about the workspace preparation process in the Prepare workspace guide.

To use the feature, update Emlid Flow to version 14.16. If the feature doesn’t appear in Emlid Flow 360, refresh the page or clear your browser cache.

Import custom code libraries with attributes

Emlid Flow and Emlid Flow 360 now support the import of custom code libraries with attributes in the Pro and Business plans.

With this workflow, project managers can prepare custom survey codes and define their attributes in the office before fieldwork begins.

To import a custom code library in Emlid Flow 360, you need to create a CSV file that follows the structure described in our guide. After that, you can add the library to the required project and it will automatically be synced to Emlid Flow and available for the field crew.

When combined with photo attachments, custom code libraries are especially handy for utility as-built documentation. This allows crews to capture not only the location of each object but also the attributes and visual evidence needed for a complete as-built record.

Code attributes in Emlid Flow and Flow 360

New code attributes in Emlid Flow and Flow 360 help you collect standardized, consistent field data across your entire workflow.

The feature is available with the Pro and Business plans.

Available workflows

  • Add and edit code attributes in libraries created in Emlid Flow 360, except for the default ones. Importing codes with attributes will be added in the upcoming releases.
  • Assign codes with attributes in Emlid Flow when collecting geometries on both mobile platforms.
  • On Android, you can also apply codes while using Collector in Stakeout mode—iOS support will be available soon.
  • Export collected geometries with the code attributes in the CSV format in Emlid Flow 360.

Supported code attributes

  • Text: Free-form text input. Use it for notes, asset IDs, or other custom information.
  • Integer: Whole numbers only. Use it for values such as pipe diameter in millimeters, number of lanes, or floor count.
  • Number: Decimal numeric values. Use it for measurements such as invert elevation, offset distance, or depth.
  • List: A predefined set of selectable values. Use ir for standardized fields such as material type, condition, or status. Values are stored as text; the predefined options ensure consistent data entry across projects and crews.

Learn how to start working with code attributes in the Manage code libraries guide.

To access the feature, make sure you’ve updated Emlid Flow to version 14.14. If you don’t see code attributes in Emlid Flow 360, try refreshing the page or clearing your browser cache.

Stream orthometric heights to ArcGIS Field Maps and other apps from the Reach RX2

The Reach RX2 now supports for orthometric height output that allows you to stream NMEA with mean sea level elevations to ArcGIS Field Maps and other third-party app that do not support geoid corrections.

The feature is available starting from the Reach RX2 firmware 2.10 and Emlid Flow app version 14.14.

Set up orthometric height output in Emlid Flow

In addition to the standard set of NMEA messages, enable orthometric heights output:

  1. In the Integration with external devices tab, enable the use of the vertical datum.
  2. Select the appropriate vertical datum from the list. If prompted, download the geoid.

Enable orthometric height use in Field Maps

Configure your web map in Field Maps Designer by adding a feature layer with Z-values enabled to it.

  1. Create a feature layer and enable Z-values and GPS metadata.
  2. Configure a coordinate system for the project in Advanced settings.
  3. Open the Forms section and add a new Number → Double field for orthometric height values.
  4. In the Calculated expression field, add the following Arcade expression:
    vargeom=Geometry($feature)
    if (IsEmpty(geom)) {
    returnnull
    }else {
    returngeom.Z
    }
  5. Save the expression and the form configuration.

Once configured, the synced project in Field Maps will display orthometric heights stored as Z-values for the collected objects when used with the Reach RX2 receiver.

For more detailed steps, explore the Integration with ArcGIS Field Maps guide.

New languages in Emlid Flow and Emlid Flow 360

Emlid Flow and Flow 360 now support Georgian, Danish, and Dutch languages.

In Emlid Flow 360, the interface automatically matches your browser language if it’s supported. You can also change the language anytime under your profile.

On mobile devices, Emlid Flow uses your device’s system language by default. To change it, go to your phone’s settings, find Emlid Flow in the app list, and select your preferred language.

To get the updates, don’t forget to update your Emlid Flow app to version 14.10 or later. If updates aren’t visible in Emlid Flow 360, try refreshing the page or clearing your browser cache.

Photo attachments in Emlid Flow

As-built documentation just got easier with photo attachments in Emlid Flow!

With the latest Emlid Flow 14.11 version, you can now attach photos during point and line collection, point creation, and stakeout.

See exactly what was being measured. No more juggling a separate camera or trying to remember which photo belongs to which coordinate.

How it works:

  1. Start collecting, staking out, or creating a point in your project in Emlid Flow.
  2. Add a photo by tapping the camera icon—either take one directly in Emlid Flow or select an existing image from your gallery.

  3. Collect a point or save a staked point.

The photo will be saved as part of the point info and will also be synchronized with Emlid Flow 360.

Update your app to v14.11 today to get started!

Import localization parameters in JSON format in Emlid Flow 360

Importing localization files in JSON format is now available in EF360. This is especially useful for Austrian users who adopt localization parameters in this format from the Federal Office of Metrology and Surveying (BEV).

The workflow includes the following steps:

  1. Obtain localization parameters for your area.
  2. Import these localization parameters when creating a new project in Emlid Flow 360.
  3. Specify the projection and vertical datum.

That’s it! Your project data will be automatically synchronized with Emlid Flow, and you can start surveying.

You can learn more about the localization workflows in Emlid Flow in the Apply localization guide.

The feature is already available in Emlid Flow 360. If you don’t see it, try refreshing the page or clearing your cache.

Sunsetting firmware updates for Reach RS+ and M+

We’ve released the latest firmware update for the Reach M+ and Reach RS+ receivers. This 33 release cycle addresses the remaining known issues and marks the final firmware update for these devices.

Going forward, we’ll stop releasing new firmware updates for M+ and RS+.

What this means for you:

  • You can keep using your M+ and RS+ for surveying.
  • They will continue to work in the Emlid Flow app.
  • However, there will be no new features or performance improvements for these models.

The M+ and RS+ are single-frequency receivers, and the industry has largely moved toward modern multi-frequency devices. Deprecating firmware development for an older hardware platform gives us more efficiency for developing our multi-band receivers.

Thank you for being an early Emlid adopter and for your support over the years! It truly helps us build better products, and we invite you to get the most out of our current line-up.

If you have any questions about this change or want help choosing a newer receiver, email us at support@emlid.com. We’re always happy to help.
