This week’s release makes it easier to view your projects and create new ones. We also fixed bugs impacting the Usage page in Administration and full-screen mode in Projects and Review Links. Here is an overview of the updates we released:

Fixes and Improvements

• We streamlined the experience of creating a new project. Now, clicking “New Project” opens a window where you can enter your project’s title and description and upload a custom thumbnail and banner. When you’re done, you’ll automatically go back to the Projects page with your newest project at the top. 
• In list view, project titles and other text are brighter, bolder, and easier to read. 
• In list view, we changed the text in the “owner” column to say “created by.” This is to avoid confusion with the role of project owner, since a project can have multiple project owners. 
• When you right-click on a project in either list or grid view, the options menu now opens with a smooth animation. 
• Selecting “Rename” from a project’s options menu now opens the “Edit Project” window. This provides a clear path for making changes to your project. 
• Project favorites are still displayed at the top of the page, but they are no longer grouped into a separate section to make the project-viewing experience more compact. 
• When you are watching a video in Projects or in a Review Link, your timecode display settings now carry over into full-screen mode.  
• We fixed an issue that prevented some accounts from seeing accurate user and storage totals in Administration.

This week, we more than doubled our list of supported image file types, and we resolved some visual defects in list view. Here is an overview of the release:

What’s New

• For images uploaded after September 27, 2022, we now support additional file types, including .crw, .nef, and .heic. This expands our support of raw image files like .cr2, so you can view even more files (and their thumbnails) in MediaSilo. Fixes and Improvements

• When you tag a file in the right drawer, existing tags are now auto-suggested.
• When you navigate projects in list view, the words “No files found” or “This project is empty” no longer flash on the screen. 
• You can click the three-dots button on a folder, and the options menu no longer overlaps with the gear icon in list view. 
• We fixed a visual defect that cut off a folder’s options menu. This occurred in list view whenever the page contained folders but no files. 
• In Administration, we added messaging that informs you when there are no roles, users, or watermark templates to display. For example, we let you know if no users match your search criteria, and we display an “Add Users” button. 
• When you export a user list from Administration, the statuses in the “MFA” column are now accurate. This way, you know which users have enabled MFA on their user profile and which ones have not. 
• When you add users to your workspace, you can once again paste multiple comma-separated email addresses into the “User emails” field. 
• When you add users to a distribution list in Administration, we no longer auto-suggest distribution lists that you have already entered. 
• In our desktop app, we fixed a bug that resulted in large folders failing to download. In the event that one or more files in a folder fail to download, click the “Export Log” button in the Download window to see which files were downloaded and which ones were not. The improved log now includes a column that provides the file path for each file.

These are the bug fixes we released today:

• When you upgrade your account to add more storage or user seats, the Administration page now displays the correct storage and number of users for your workspace. 
• We fixed a bug that prevented viewers from downloading files from Spotlights and Presentations in certain cases.
• We fixed a bug that caused watermarking of large projects to time out and fail.

Here is an overview of the issues we resolved this week: 

• Your project “favorites” now remain at the top of the Projects home page after you navigate away and back to the page. Before, a bug prevented favorites from loading until you refreshed the page. 
• We addressed issues with loading thumbnails in Projects. Now, an image file’s thumbnail loads faster; gif thumbnails are displayed consistently; and thumbnails are displayed earlier in the upload process, even when your files are still being prepared for viewing. 
• When you update a Review Link by replacing a file or adding a new version of a file, we now redirect viewers to your link’s content, instead of showing them an error message. 
• In the Sent Links tab, you can now click the options button on any link older than one month and choose “Insights” to view the link’s analytics. Before, the default date filter in Insights would prevent the analytics from loading.
• In Spotlight, if you exit the Clone Template window in order to create a new template, the Create Template window no longer reverts to the Clone Template window. 
• If you are watching a video while uploading files, your playback is no longer reset each time an upload completes. 
• Renaming a file in list view or grid view will automatically update the files’s name in the Information drawer on the right. 
• We resolved an issue with spreadsheets exported from Insights that were missing some analytics in certain cases.   
• Link recipients can now download a watermarked video that is two or more hours long after watching the video in its entirety. This applies to Review Links where downloading is enabled.

• Changing a workspace's name will no longer impact user or storage totals on the Usage page.

In this week’s release, we targeted bugs that impacted your search experience in Spotlight, Insights, and Projects. Here is an overview of all the fixes we released:

• We fixed the search bar in Spotlight, so you can once again search a gallery for the files you need. 
• In the Spotlight template builder, the search bar in the Media Browser panel now works properly. This allows you to search for assets in your projects, so you can drag them onto your template or into playlists. 
• In the Spotlight template builder, the “Delete Page” button in the properties panel is now working. Note that a popup will ask you to confirm this action. 
• When access to a Spotlight is restricted to workspace users only, all views are attributed to the correct users in Insights. We fixed a bug that was reporting those users as anonymous viewers. 
• We fixed a bug that needlessly reloaded parts of the SafeStream Usage page every time you adjusted the date range.
• In list view, you can once again select “Edit poster frame” from the options menu to change a video's thumbnail. 
• We fixed a lag issue affecting list view when you are viewing 200 assets per page.
• When you perform a search in the project tree, the search results no longer carry over to the Projects home page. Before, your search results would carry over, resulting in a partial list of projects on the Projects home page.
• When you are in a project with a custom banner at the top of the page, using the search bar in the project tree will no longer make the project’s name and breadcrumbs disappear.
• We fixed a bug in Insights that prevented you from searching for analytics in previous years by month. 
• We fixed a visual defect that was cutting off column headers in Insights.
• When a folder is shared with you as a Review Link, our mobile app – MediaSilo Go – no longer crashes upon opening the link from your Feed.

This week’s release includes design updates to the Administration section and bug fixes related to Insights and the Sent Links tab. Here is an overview of the changes:

Fixes and Improvements

• Administrators will notice design improvements throughout the Administration section. All of your options remain the same, but we added smoother interactions and updated the design to look more consistent with the rest of the app.
• We fixed a bug in Insights that miscounted the total number of anonymous viewers of a link. 
• When you send a Review Link, the email preview is now formatted to display the line breaks in your message. 
• When you edit a link’s title, the Sent Links tab in the left drawer automatically displays the new title, without needing to reload the page. 
• The Import button for Review Links now lets you import assets to the workspace and project of your choice. A notification at the top of the page informs you when the import is complete or (in certain cases) when an issue occurs.

Our mobile app – MediaSilo Go – is now supported on both your phone and tablet. You can access your MediaSilo workspace, watch videos, send Review Links, and more– all from your iPad or any tablet or mobile device. 

We also upgraded the list view in our desktop and browser apps, so you can move and resize columns to your liking. Here is an overview of the updates we released this week:

What’s New

• MediaSilo Go is now supported on tablets. The app is available for download in the App Store and the Google Play Store. 
• We introduced a new list view to our desktop and browser apps. Now, you can resize columns to your preferred width, or rearrange the columns by clicking and dragging the headers. To hide columns you don’t need, click the gear icon on the right. This opens a menu where you can turn columns on and off or reset the table to its default view. Whichever settings you choose, MediaSilo will automatically save them, even after you log out. This updated view is available inside projects, on the search results page, and in Recent Items.

Fixes and Improvements

• We fixed a bug that logged you out of MediaSilo after editing a Presentation’s settings via Insights and then reloading the page. 
• We no longer display an error code when you try watching a video before it finishes processing. Instead, we show a loading spinner until the video is ready, and then you can start watching without any need to reload the page. 
• If you are using our old “Shift” desktop app for Mac, a popup message now lets you download the MediaSilo app for the best app experience.

This week’s release is focused on improving how administrators can edit a user's access to projects and features. The Edit User experience has been redesigned into one, easy-to-use window, where you can now control a user’s access to Spotlight. Here is an overview of the changes: 

What’s New

• We redesigned the Edit User window in Administration. Now, you can find user information (such as a user’s type and default role) on the left, and you can view and edit project assignments on the right. Access the Edit User window from the Users page by clicking the three-dots button at the end of a user's row. 
• The updated Edit User window also includes an all-new Feature Access section, where administrators can control a user’s access to Spotlight. When the Spotlight toggle is turned off, a user cannot access the Spotlight page in MediaSilo or create and customize templates. This toggle is also available in the Add Users window.
• We added clearer messaging to the Add Users workflow. When you invite new users, we now inform you if your user limit has been reached.
• The Usage tab in Administration now shows both your current storage and your average storage (month to date).

This week’s release includes improvements to the watermark editor and bug fixes. We also upgraded the review experience in MediaSilo Go, our mobile app for iOS and Android. Here is an overview of the changes:

What’s New

• We redesigned the review page in our mobile app to create a better viewing experience. Download and approval buttons are now displayed along the bottom of the screen. Tap the speech bubble to show or hide comments, so you can join the conversation or focus on the content you are watching. Additional options, including “Show Info,” are tucked into the options menu in the top right.

Fixes and Improvements

• We fixed a bug in the project tree that crashed the app whenever you clicked the options menu next to a project name.
• In the Administration section, you can now delete multiple users at once. Before, when you selected “Delete users” from the Actions menu, the action was unsuccessful.
• We fixed a bug in Administration that redirected you to Projects after saving certain changes.
• When you download a file from the MediaSilo desktop app, the download window now provides an accurate estimate of how long the download will take.
• In the watermark template editor, using the text-align tools no longer results in a watermark that is outside the frame. Also, adding a new watermark now places it next to the original watermark, not on top of it.
• Lastly, we freshened up the watermark preview with a new sample video.
