Fixes and Improvements for April 24th

April 24, 2023

  • We fixed a bug that prevented administrators from editing certain Review Links on the Insights page. Now, an administrator can edit a link after the link creator no longer has access to the files or folders contained in the link.
  • For accounts migrating from Wiredrive to MediaSilo, any Wiredrive projects that have not been moved into MediaSilo will no longer appear in MediaSilo’s search options.
  • We fixed a bug that displayed some annotation tools upon opening a document in Projects, even though you can only annotate documents in Review Links or Review Mode.
  • We now limit the size of the logo you upload to the Branding page in Administration to 1MB and 3000 by 1500 pixels. This is to prevent a larger logo from causing lagging issues in Spotlights and Presentations. Note that previously uploaded logos will not be impacted.
  • When you search for projects to assign to users, the search field now says “Loading” instead of “No options,” while the search results are loading. This applies to the “Add Users'' and “Add Users to Project” windows in Administration.

Fixes and Improvements for April 4th

April 4, 2023

  • The “Share as Presentation” button in the Playlists tab is no longer displayed to users who do not have external sharing permission for all the files and folders in a playlist.
  • On the Recent Items and Search Results pages, the filters in the left sidebar now update automatically whenever you switch to a different workspace.
  • When you watch a video in Projects or a Review Link, you can use your arrow keys to go back or forward by one frame. Previously, the arrow keys skipped multiple frames while in full-screen mode.
  • On the Insights page, a message now informs you when a Review Link cannot be edited because the link is empty. To edit the link, you would first need to add files or folders to it from the Sent Links tab in Projects.

Fixes for March 21st

March 21, 2023

This week, we fixed bugs impacting the Search experience, user management in Administration, and other parts of the app. Here is an overview of our latest release:

  • When you open a file from the search results page, the file now loads faster. Previously, opening a file from the search results page could take longer than opening the same file directly from a project.
  • When someone replies to a comment in a Review Link, the reply is now logged properly on the Insights analytics page. We fixed a bug that logged a single reply as two comments.
  • As an administrator, you can once again deactivate and reactivate users from the Users page.
  • In Spotlights and Presentations, a grid gallery is no longer limited to the first fifty folders or files contained in a playlist.
  • We fixed an incorrect tooltip on a document annotation button.

Fixes and Improvements for March 7th

March 7, 2023

Here is an overview of the issues we fixed this week:

  • In the video player in Projects and Review Links, fractional frame rates are now converted to the appropriate non-drop frame SMPTE timecode. This will resolve discrepancies between the timecode displayed in the video player and a timecode that is burned into a video with a fractional frame rate.
  • If you are migrating from Wiredrive to MediaSilo, the MediaSilo Go mobile app will only display the Wiredrive projects that an administrator on your team has directly moved into MediaSilo.
  • For accounts that include multiple workspaces under one contract, we released a fix to make sure a user with access to multiple workspaces only counts as a single user towards your contracted user limit.

Fixes and Improvements for February 21st

February 21, 2023

Today, we resolved the following issues:

  • In Projects, a file’s dimensions are now accurately displayed. Previously, the dimensions of the proxy were displayed, instead of the actual file uploaded to MediaSilo. To view a file’s dimensions: select a file, open the right sidebar, and go to the Information tab.
  • We improved the experience around editing empty Review Links via the Sent Links tab. Now, if a link does not contain any content, you are asked to add a file or folder to the link before you can edit its settings.
  • We fixed a bug that caused the video player to display inaccurate timecodes for certain files. A tooltip now indicates when a new video’s timecode information is temporarily unavailable because it is being processed.

Fixes and Improvements for February 7th

February 7, 2023

Here is an overview of this week’s release:

  • We resolved an issue that prevented MediaSilo Legacy QuickLinks from appearing in Insights or the Sent Links tab in MediaSilo.
  • If you create a link in MediaSilo Legacy, you can immediately edit that same link in MediaSilo. To edit a link, go to any project and open the sidebar on the left. Here, you’ll find the Sent Links tab, where you can edit any of your existing links.
  • You can now edit a Review Link from your Feed by clicking the gear icon on the Feed card and selecting “Edit Settings.” Before, this option only worked if you were in the same workspace where you created the link.
  • For certain accounts that migrated from Wiredrive to MediaSilo, we fixed a bug that made some files inaccessible in MediaSilo.
  • Lastly, the user lists you export from Administration are no longer limited to the first 500 users.

Fixes and Improvements for January 24th

January 24, 2023

Here is an overview of the updates we released today:
  • We fixed a bug that prevented you from viewing any Adobe Illustrator files in MediaSilo. To make sure your file is viewable, please select “Create PDF Compatible File” when you save the file in Illustrator.
  • You can once again download a video file’s proxy from Recent Items and the Search results page. Just right click the file and select “Download proxy” from the options menu.
  • When you rename files in list view in Recent Items and the Search results page, the new name is now saved properly.
  • When you play a watermarked video, the correct timecode is now displayed in the video player.
  • In Projects, we fixed an issue with list view that resulted in blank space at the bottom of the page. Now, more space is dedicated to your list of files, and page controls are displayed properly at the bottom.
  • We fixed a bug that displayed some images in landscape orientation instead of portrait.
  • We made improvements to the thumbnail carousel that appears at the bottom of the page whenever you open a file. Now, the file that’s currently selected will remain in the center of the carousel. This makes it easier to browse projects or folders with dozens or more files by showing you which files come before and after your current selection.
  • When you log into MediaSilo for the first time, the app now saves your thumbnail display preference. For new users, the “Fill Asset Thumbnails” setting is now off by default, but you can update it at any time. Just click your profile image in the bottom left corner and select My Profile > Preferences.
  • Lastly, we fixed a heading in Administration that read, “Workspace Security Settings,” instead of “SMTP Email Server Setup.” You can set up SMTP by going to Administration > Settings > Email.

Fixes and Improvements for January 12th

January 12, 2023

Our first release of the year delivers bug fixes to different areas of the app, so you can successfully export user lists from Administration, customize a watermark’s color, or import files from a Review Link to the project of your choice. Here is an overview of today’s release:
  • When you import files from a Review Link, you can now import to any project in your workspace by searching for the project’s name. Before, you could only search the first fifty projects in the Import window.
  • Administrators can once again export a user list of up to 500 users as a .csv or .xls file. Just click More > Export Users on the Users page in Administration.
  • You can now select users in Administration and then add them to a new distribution list (Actions > Add users to a Distribution List > Create New). Before, a bug prevented the new distribution list from saving properly.
  • When you add users to a new distribution list in Administration, you have the option to export the list as a .csv file. This file now displays user names and emails, instead of just user ids.
  • As an administrator, you can add users to your workspace without inviting them to any projects. In this case, the confirmation message now says, “Users successfully added,” instead of “Invitations successfully sent.”
  • In Administration, you can now select users from different pages of the user list and then perform a bulk action, such as changing the users’ status, without crashing the app.
  • We fixed an issue with the carousel gallery in Spotlights and Presentations. Now, clicking the scroll arrow does not skip over any items in the gallery. To prevent this issue from happening, you can no longer enter a “Scroll” number that is higher than the “In View” number in your gallery settings.
  • When you create a playlist, double clicking the “Create” button now results in one new playlist instead of two.
  • We fixed a bug in the Feed that incorrectly labeled certain links as expired, when they were in fact active.
  • You can once again delete files in list view by selecting the files and hitting the Delete key on your keyboard. A pop-up window will ask you to confirm this action.
  • When you play an audio file, a waveform graphic is now displayed in the audio player, instead of a black screen.
  • In list view, an audio file’s thumbnail image is now represented by a waveform graphic, instead of a blank tile.
  • In the Manage Project Team window, a role with a long name will no longer stretch the width of the role dropdown menu.
  • If your workspace uses several custom roles, you can now scroll through the entire list of roles in the Manage Project Team window. Before, some roles were not visible when assigning a new user to a project.
  • The “Add to Bin” option is now working in the project tree in the left sidebar.
  • When you create a visible watermark template for your project, the new template is now saved correctly. The name of the template is displayed in the watermark template menu.
  • We fixed a bug in the watermark editor that crashed the app whenever you entered your own color code.
  • For Safari users, choosing the “Upload Folder” option no longer allows you to select more than one folder, since you can only upload one folder at a time using this method. You can still upload multiple folders at once by dragging them directly from your computer into a project.
  • You can now download the MediaSilo desktop app as a .pkg file. This way, Mac users can install the app (and keep it up to date) without the administrator permission required by a .dmg file.
  • As a Windows user, you can now install and update the MediaSilo desktop app without needing administrator access to your computer. Before, you could only install the app for “all users,” which requires an administrator password. Now, you can choose to install the app “only for me,” which does not require an administrator password. If the app was already installed on your computer before today’s release, then an administrator password is still required to install updates. To make sure you can update the app as a non-administrator user, an administrator must first uninstall the app. Then, you will be able to install the app and any future updates.
  • The MediaSilo desktop app now reopens automatically after you install an update to the app on your Windows computer.

Fixes and Improvements for December 15th

December 15, 2022

This week’s release resolves a timeout issue with our Adobe extension and improves the experience around importing files from a Review Link. Here is an overview of the updates we released:

  • You can update a video’s poster frame from either list view or grid view. Before, opening the “Edit poster frame” window from list view would lead to the app crashing.
  • Importing files from the second page of a Review Link no longer results in an error message.
  • In a Review Link with multiple files, a shield icon now indicates if a file is watermarked.
  • We added clearer messaging to the Import window to inform you of any importing restrictions. For example, you cannot import a watermarked file or a file contained in a folder.
  • The MediaSilo extension in Premiere Pro and other Adobe applications will no longer time out after twenty minutes of inactivity.
  • For Android users, downloading files from a Review Link for offline viewing is now working correctly in our mobile app.
