Fixes and Improvements for October 17

October 17, 2023

  • When you export a timeline from the MediaSilo panel in DaVinci Resolve Studio, you can now select an encoding preset (720p or 1080p) tailored specifically for MediaSilo. When using a preset, your video is ready for playback in MediaSilo even faster, since the file does not need to be re-transcoded in MediaSilo.
  • We fixed a bug that prevented you from playing older versions of a watermarked video. These versions now play back correctly.
  • We fixed a bug that caused a live-chat bubble to cover parts of the Review Link interface. If you are logged in to MediaSilo, you can still access the chat feature by clicking the question mark in the navigation bar.
  • After you delete a subfolder, you are no longer asked if you want to delete the parent folder that contained the subfolder.

Commenting permission is now available

October 3, 2023

  • We added commenting permission to our set of project-level permissions. As an administrator, you can now decide which roles have permission to view and make comments inside a project. Commenting permission is also required to edit and delete your own comments and to enable feedback on a Review Link. To learn more, please see our new User Permissions Guide.
  • We added some text to the Manage Notifications window to better explain how it works. To manage upload notifications for specific users, go to the Users tab in Administration, click the checkbox next to a user’s name, and select Actions > Manage notifications for users.
  • We upgraded to a more interactive chat support that recommends Knowledge Base articles based on your exact needs. If your question requires further assistance, we’ll ask you for some basic information, so a member of our team can help you as quickly as possible.

Fixes and Improvements for September 5th

September 5, 2023

  • In a Review Link with multiple files, you can now hover over a truncated file name to view the entire name.
  • Our upgraded chat support now recommends articles from our Knowledge Base to quickly provide you with the information you need. For further assistance, just click “Get in touch” to chat with a member of our team.
  • We fixed a bug affecting certain watermarked Review Links. Before, if your workspace-level settings required forensic watermarking on new projects, applying a watermark to an individual Review Link would result in a playback error.

August 22, 2023

This week, we’re introducing a new panel for Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve Studio. Fixes and Improvements for July 25th

July 25, 2023

  • Review Links are again displayed in the Sent Links tab. We fixed a bug that caused the tab to appear empty in certain cases.
  • In Insights, we updated the icon used for Presentations from a link icon to the flame icon already used for sharing Presentations throughout the app.
  • If you add an image file over 5MB to a Spotlight template, a message now informs you that images over 5MB might increase your Spotlight’s load time. To learn more, please see Spotlight Image Recommendations.

Fixes and Improvements for July 13th

July 13, 2023

  • When you resize or customize an element in the Spotlight template builder, your changes are now saved properly. Before, a bug reverted your changes as soon as you deselected the element.
  • On the Settings page in Administration, we updated some messaging around locking out users due to inactivity. As an administrator, you can choose to lock out users after a select number of days of inactivity. A locked-out user's status will change to "inactive" the moment the user attempts to log in.

Fixes and Improvements for June 13th

June 13, 2023

  • We updated permissions around adding playlists to Spotlights. Now, if a user does not have sharing permission for all the items in a playlist, the user cannot add that playlist to a Spotlight, even if the playlist is “Shared.” To add a playlist to a public or password-protected Spotlight, a user needs external sharing permission for the contents of the playlist. The user needs internal sharing permission if the Spotlight is shared with workspace users only.
  • We fixed a bug that could result in unintentionally scrubbing through a video when you moved your mouse.

Fixes and Improvements for May 30th

May 30, 2023

  • As an additional layer of protection, we now prevent other apps from taking screenshots and screen recordings of the MediaSilo desktop app for Windows.
  • In the watermark template editor, we now make it clearer if you entered a restricted character in the custom text field. You’ll need to remove the character before you can save your watermark template. Restricted characters are > < = [ ]
  • We fixed a bug that occasionally caused a live-chat bubble to appear on the screen. To chat with our Technical Solutions and Services team, you can still click the question mark in the navigation bar and select “Support.”
  • In Spotlights and Presentations, we fixed a bug that caused a subfolder to display the same set of 50 files repeatedly, instead of displaying the next set of 50 files.
  • You can once again export and share sequences from our Premiere Pro extension using the “Workspace users” access setting.

Fixes and Improvements for May 17th

May 17, 2023

  • When you export the comments made on a video, you can now set the start time for the exported comments. This enables you to import comments that match the sequence’s timeline in your editing software. For example, you can set the start time to 01:00:00:00 to match the default sequence start time in Avid Media Composer. This export option is available in Review Links and Review Mode when the video player’s timecode format is set to HH:MM:SS:FF.
  • When you import files from a Review Link, the Import window now indicates that you can search for the exact workspace, project, and folder where you want to import files.
  • We added messaging to the Sent Links tab and the Insights page to inform you when a Review Link cannot be edited because the link is empty. Your link may be empty if the contents were removed via the Sent Links tab or deleted from the workspace. You also cannot edit a link if the contents were moved to a project where you don’t have sharing permission.
  • We improved the image quality of thumbnails in Spotlights and Presentations.
  • The video player controls in the Spotlight livestream player are no longer cut off.
  • Grid galleries in Spotlights and Presentations can once again display more than 50 files when scrolling is disabled.
  • When you open a Review Link in your phone’s web browser, the banner about downloading our mobile app is now formatted properly on smaller screens.
