Out of office mode

Keep your store open and orders coming in, even whilst you're away. Out of Office Mode works with your existing delivery schedules, automatically adjusting dates to start from your return-to-office date. This makes it simple to manage customer expectations.

Set up your out of office

  1. Go to Storefront → Configure and scroll down to the “Out of office” section.
  2. Configure your “Out of office” mode.
    1. Toggle out of office to ON.
    2. Set your return date.
    3. Choose whether you want to have your out of office mode turned off automatically or manually upon your return (Out of office mode can be turned on or off at any point from within Storefront → Configure.)
    4. Add a short message for customers letting them know why you’re away. This will be displayed as a prominent banner at the top of your storefront.

Whenever using Sellar, you’ll be reminded that your out of office is currently on by the presence of a permanent banner at the top of each page.

Your customer’s experience

Upon landing on your storefront, customers will see your out of office banner configured with the date and message you just set.

Should they add items to their basket and proceed to checkout, they will be shown a notice which they MUST acknowledge before they’re able to proceed past the delivery step of the checkout page.

Better delivery options for your customers - part 1

Seeing delivery options is important for buyers on Sellar. For many—especially those in the on-trade—how quickly they can receive an order influences their purchasing decisions.

To enhance your customers' experience, we've made several improvements so they can easily view all their viable delivery options when ordering from you.

Courier schedule

Display an estimate delivery date to customers outside your direct delivery area when they visit your storefront. The courier day selector allows you to specify the days of the week in which you actually dispatch courier orders.

These days are then used in calculations to display a more accurate estimate delivery date to non-local customers.

Set your courier days now by heading to your courier delivery tier.

Set My Courier Days

Offer collection

Sometimes local customers prefer to collect their order at a time that suits them.

The flexibility to arrange a collection time from your business address is valued by customers; especially if it means they can get it sooner than your next direct delivery run to their area.

You can allow any customer to request to collect their order from you by heading to your delivery settings and toggling ‘allow customer collections’ to ‘yes’.

Offer Collection

Customer experience

During checkout, your customers will see delivery options available to them and will be able to select based on their preference. This will adjust their order’s planned delivery date and, if applicable, any delivery charges based on your rates. Note: customers will only ever see valid delivery options available to them on checkout based on their address and your delivery schedules and settings.

Coming soon

In part 2 of this update, we’ll share how we’ll be taking those delivery options your customers will see on checkout and presenting them on your storefront. In addition to this we’ll share a solution for managing larger courier orders; which would typically be handled via pallet delivery.

Set Your Customers Terms to Payment-on-Delivery

You can now assign payment-on-delivery terms to your customers. This will automatically set the payment due date to align with the planned delivery date for any orders where payment is collected upon delivery. Here's how it works:

  • When you adjust the planned delivery date of a customer order, the payment due date will automatically update to match.
  • Once an invoice is issued or the order is finalised, the payment due date is fixed, even if the delivery date subsequently changes.
  • Invoices become available to customers once orders are finalised.
  • Customers still have the option to pay by card during checkout if they prefer.

Add Multiple Images to Your Product Listings

Add Multiple Images to Your Product Listings

Your product imagery is one of the first things that grabs a buyer’s attention on Sellar. High-quality images can set your brand apart, capture interest, and drive sales.

Until now, you’ve been able to upload a ‘badge’ image and one ‘hero’ image for your products. We’re pleased to announce that you can now showcase up to 4 product hero images. This enhancement gives you more flexibility to fully highlight the key features of your products.

We've made it simple for buyers to explore any additional images you upload throughout the app. On the Sellar Market, desktop and laptop users can easily view your product images by hovering their cursor over your listing. An auto-play carousel will cycle through each image for a few seconds, giving buyers an effortless browsing experience.

When viewing product details, your images can be viewed as clickable thumbnails. On mobile devices, additional images can be viewed via a familiar swipe interaction.

Get Started

Head to your product list, select any product, and click ‘edit details’. In this section, you can upload your additional hero images. Here are a few key points to keep in mind:

  • Images are displayed in the order you upload them, with the left-most image serving as the primary hero image that appears first across the platform.
  • While there are no strict image dimensions, we recommend:
    • An aspect ratio of 16:9
    • A minimum width of 600 pixels
    • A file size up to 5MB
  • For optimal results, you can use 1920 x 1080 dimensions, ensuring the main visual content is centered for a consistent display across all screen sizes.
  • Don’t forget to click ‘save’ to apply your changes!

Choosing the Right Images for Maximum Impact

How you present your brand and products is entirely your choice. However, through numerous conversations with trade buyers, we've identified several practical ways additional images can make an impact. Buyers often want to see:

  • The product artwork to understand how it will look on their own website or in marketing materials.
  • The packaging—such as cans—to get a sense of how it will appear in fridges at their venue.
  • The product when poured into a glass. Is it cloudy or clear? What colour is it? Will this resonate with their customers?
  • A visual representation of taste and texture, using abstract images to convey the flavour profile.

We also recommend showcasing your product in each packaging format—whether it’s a can, bottle, or keg—to provide a complete picture of your offering.

Change Delivery Method on an Order Even After It's Been Finalised

Change Delivery Method on an Order Even After It's Been Finalised

You can now change the delivery method on an order even after it has been finalised. This is handy for when things change and you need to fulfil a customer’s order via a method different than originally intended.

To do this on an order that has been finalised, head to the order details page and either choose:

  • The three dot menu in the top right of the page and select Edit order details
  • Scroll to the Delivery section of the order details page and select Edit.

In both instances, the dropdown menu for changing delivery method (fulfilment type) will be active and will allow you to change your selection after the order is finalised but before it has been dispatched.

A few things to note:

  • The order items, delivery charges and anything affecting total order price will remain uneditable.
  • Switching from any other selection to Sellar Shipping UPS will present you with the option to create your shipment to get your labels.
  • Conversely, switching from Sellar Shipping UPS will automatically cancel your shipment and labels if you created them.
  • Switching to Sellar Shipping Parcelforce will also present you with the option to book your shipment via the usual link
  • However, at time of writing, there is no reliable way to cancel your shipment when switching from Sellar Shipping Parcelforce. Despite this, you will be able to switch to and from any delivery method on a finalised order.

A Better Way to Preview and Share Your Availability List

Sellar is your smart availability list that can be used by ALL your trade customers and prospects.

You want to direct people to your availability list but not all customers are created equal. Different customers can order different products at different pricing and have them fulfilled via different delivery methods.

With this update, we’ve got you covered.

All your existing Sellar links can now be accessed from a single place. It’s easy to get the link you need and preview it before sharing with customers.

Orders from prospects that click on your link will be protected from incurring Opening Order Fees for 28 days, even if they are not in your Sellar Customer List.

Your sharing links

In the sidebar menu, you’ll now see a prominent option to access ‘Your sharing links’. This takes you to a new page organised so that you’re only ever a couple of clicks away from getting the exact link you need.

We’ve designed this page around two simple questions:

What do you want to share?
Choose between either your full availability list or a single product.

Who’s it for?
Choose large audience and optionally include pricing. Or, choose a specific customer to get a link unique for them.

The side-by-side preview page updates in real-time so that you can see exactly what your customer(s) will see.

See it in action

Define your case sizes for more precise MOQs and volume discounts

Define your case sizes for more precise MOQs and volume discounts

Well defined minimum order quantities (MOQs) ensure customer orders can be fulfilled economically. Similarly, well defined volume discounts can encourage more substantial orders worth fulfilling.

On Sellar, you’re free to list your packaged products - namely, bottles and cans - in any quantity. However, unless listed in a quantity which matches the size of the case you ship in, it hasn’t always been possible to accurately honour the MOQs and volume discounts you may have defined for these products.

We’re solving this with the introduction of case size definitions. In the new delivery settings area, you can now set case sizes for each of the can and bottle products you sell. Read on to see practical examples of how this all works.

Defining a case size

Let’s say I list the majority of my can products in 440ml. I like to offer half cases to my customers so most products have an option to buy 12x 440ml cans or 24x 440ml cans. To set this up, I’ll head to delivery settings to set my case size of 24 for 440ml. It’s as simple as it sounds. I’m also shown my existing, related MOQs and volume discounts at this point; giving me chance to adjust them if necessary.

I can continue to define cases for all my different can sizes and bottle sizes.

What your customer sees

As the packaging I use to ship can hold 24 cans, when a customer adds 1x 12x 440ml cans to their basket Sellar now knows that this is half a case. My customer will see this indicated on the storefront; making it easy to determine if the products in their basket add up to a full or partial cases.

Minimum order quantities

This works in unison with your minimum order quantities. In the same scenario, let’s say I have an MOQ of 2 cases of cans (2x 24x 440ml. 48 cans in total). Sellar will know when a customer has 3x 12x 440ml can products in their basket and is half a case short of meeting the MOQ. Adding 1 more 12x 440ml can product to their basket allows them to checkout and place their order. Previously, my customer would’ve been able to order 3x 12x 440ml cans and I would’ve had to ask them to edit their order and add 1 more 12 pack. Back-and-forth we no longer need to do.

Ordering in increments

Even after a customer has met my MOQs, I may still want them to order in increments of a full case. To achieve this, I use the full case requirement setting to either require or advise customers to order in increments of my case sizes.

So if I set this to required and my customer adds another half case of cans - bringing their total to 5x 12x 440ml Cans - they’ll see a notice in the basket informing them to order in full cases before checking out.

Volume discounts

Let’s say I want to encourage larger basket sizes and I have a volume discount of “Buy 4 cases of cans, get 5% off”. My customer, who currently has 6x 12x 440ml cans in their basket is one case short of qualifying for this discount. They add 1x 24x 440ml product item to their basket and get the 5% off.

Note here, for either MOQs or volume discounts, Sellar uses the total can count to determine if the conditions are met. Hence why 6x 12x 440ml and 1x 24x 440ml qualifies for the volume discount of 4 cases.

Additional benefits

With the above in mind, the new case size system allows me list a more varied range of quantities for my bottle and can products if I’m willing to split cases in this way. Let’s say I’m happy to split cases 3 ways, I can go ahead and list 8x 440ml can product items on the price tiers where I want to make these available. Now, when my customers come to place their order, they can add these 8x 440ml cans to their basket and my case definition of 24x cans will continue manage everything with respect to meeting MOQs, ordering in full cases and qualifying for any volume discounts.

Head to your new delivery settings area to define your cases sizes. Setup is easy and takes less than a minute.

View sales info on customer pages

Customer pages now feature sales info based on your customer's order history on Sellar. See key metrics at a glance:

  • Last ordered date
  • Order frequency
  • Average order value
  • Lifetime value

Whilst this initial update to customer pages calculates all-time values, we plan to extend the use of sales info in two ways:

  • Provide each of these metrics as filters and sortable columns on an updated customer list design. This is currently being developed.
  • Provide a way to query against each of these metrics for specific time periods. For example, view a customer's average order value over the last 3, 6 or 12 months.

Head to your customer list to take a look. As always, get in touch if you have suggestions and feedback on how we can make this even better for you.

(Note: Values on customer pages gets refreshed once per day; overnight.)
