Rename datasets

No longer you'll need to rely on your support team to rename your datasets. You're now autonomous in renaming them directly from the app.

Go to your dataset actions and click on Rename to adjust your dataset name.

Note: this feature has been partially rolled out. If you do not yet have access please contact your implementation team or customer success manager.

Row borders

What’s new?

You can now add row borders to tables in Abacum for better visual separation between sections, creating a more structured appearance. This update gives you increased flexibility for customization in setting up your reports.

How does it work?

To apply a new row border, right-click on the row header under which you want to insert it. Select "Apply bottom border" and a black row border will be inserted automatically.

Hide table grid lines

What's new?

You now have the flexibility to choose whether to display or hide the data grid lines in your tables, giving you more control over the visuals of your reports.

How does it work?

You will see the new "Show grid lines" toggle in the Visualization menu from Table Builder. By default, the toggle will be set to active and all table grid lines will be displayed. By disabling the toggle, data grid lines will be hidden for the rows and data sections.

Dataset manager data filtering, sorting and pagination

What’s new?

You can now see your full uploaded data from the dataset manager and reduce the need to download the data to Excel for analysis. This new functionality will also offer you the ability to filter and sort the data natively.

How does it work?

1. Go to the Data viewer section of the dataset manager.

2. From each column header, you will find a new filter option. The available options will vary depending on the column type: text, numeric or date.

Configure Scale Markers

What’s new?

You can now customize scale markers (millions, thousands, etc.) for entire tables. Before, you had to repeat the same scale indicator for every number in a table. This could seem repetitive and cluttered. Now you can set the scale markers at the table or value level.

How does it work?

You will find the new option “Scale” in the Visualization menu from Table Builder. By default, the option will be set to “None” and clicking on the drop-down menu will show the different scale options available. Once you select one of the scales, you will be able to display it per value, per table or hide it using the “Scale Marker” drop-down.

Little big updates: Create dimension item when parent level is not included in the variable ✨

What’s new?

You can now create new dimension items when your variable does not have the parent dimension level. For example, you can create a new City even if you do not have the Country dimension level.

How does it work?

In any dimension on the manual input panel, simply start typing the name for the new dimension item. Once you click “Create”, you’ll be taken to the modal to map this item.

Note: this feature has been partially rolled out. If you do not yet have access please contact your implementation team or customer success manager.

Data transformations got easier with formula auto-complete

What’s new?

We've added a new auto-complete feature to make writing formulas in the dataset manager easier than ever. This addition lets you swiftly select from existing columns in your dataset right as you type. No more flipping back and forth to check column names! The auto-complete shows you exactly which columns and syntax to use for each function, making formula writing faster.

How does it work?

When you open the formula editor and start typing, you'll see a list of available columns and functions to work with. As you type, different helpers and operators will pop up to assist you.

To dive deeper into syntax and the use of operators, check out our academy article.

Improved variance formatting✨

What's new?

We've added several options to configure the look and feel of variances in tables. You can now configure whether to:

  • Show absolute, percentage or both variance columns
  • Apply the formatting to either one or both columns
  • Apply the colour to a chip, background or text

Why does it matter?

This will allow you to match your company's default reporting style for variances more closely. In addition, it allows you to focus on the variances that matter most to you (e.g. only % variances).

Snapshot datasets for Google Sheets, S3, and Google Drive

What’s new?

Abacum now lets you create snapshot datasets for Google Sheets, S3, and Google Drive. This dataset type takes a snapshot of all the data in a file at specific moments.

Why does it matter?

Snapshot datasets give you more flexibility to import data without timestamps. e.g. customer, deal, and headcount data.

Learn the differences between snapshot and transactional datasets in this academy article.
