➕ Duplicate multiple variables in one action

Select multiple variables in the Model Builder and duplicate them in a single action.

✨ What's new?

  • Select multiple variables via checkbox in the Model Builder, then click "Duplicate" in the action bar to clone them all at once.
  • Duplicates appear directly below their originals, following the standard "(1)", "(2)" naming convention already used by single-variable duplication.
  • Each duplicate inherits the full configuration of the original: formula logic, dimension assignments, section/group membership, formatting, and manual inputs.
  • If any selected variable has unsaved changes, a confirmation modal appears before the bulk action runs, using the new unsaved changes style.

Refreshed navigation bar

The sidebar gets a cleaner look and a slimmer footprint, giving you back valuable screen real estate.

✨ What’s new
We’ve redesigned the navigation bar with updated visuals, adjusted sizes and reorganized sections. Everything you use today is right where you expect it, just lighter and tighter. This is the first step in a broader navigation refresh, with more improvements landing in the coming months.

📈 Impact

  • More space for your work: a slimmer sidebar leaves more room for your spaces, tables, and dashboards.
  • A more modern look: on-brand visuals that feel cleaner and more mature.
  • Foundation for what’s next: sets the stage for upcoming navigation improvements.

✏️ Spaces keep getting better

We've been building on the foundation of Spaces 2.0 with a series of improvements that make writing, navigating, and editing reports faster and more expressive.

✨ What's new

  • Richer text blocks. Insert simple tables directly into a text block to display static content inline. You can also add emojis via the toolbar or by typing :keyword. 👉 Learn how to use tables in text blocks
  • Paste images straight from your clipboard into a Space with Cmd/Ctrl + V.
  • Mentions and tasks are easier to find. The / command and formatting toolbar now surface mentions and tasks directly. The mention menu has also been reorganized by category (people, variables, resources) and supports fuzzy search, so approximate spelling works.
  • Charts and tables in the navigation index. Titled chart and table blocks now appear in the "Navigate to" panel. No need to add a duplicate heading just to make a block navigable.
  • Select multiple blocks at once. Hold and drag to select multiple blocks, then delete, or reorder them in one action.

Spaces continues to evolve — more improvements are on the way!

Automated analysis embedded in your spaces with the AI insights block

You can now generate AI-powered narrative analysis from a table or chart and embed it directly in your space. Set up the analysis once, then regenerate it with one click every time your data refreshes.

✨ What's new

  • Four analysis types. Contribution analysis, Variance analysis, Bridge narrative, and Headliners. Each designed for a specific reporting need.
  • Embedded in your space. The analysis block lives right next to the table or chart it references. Your stakeholders see the numbers and the narrative together.
  • One-click regeneration. When your data updates, click Regenerate to re-run the same analysis against the latest numbers. The prompt is stored so the output stays consistent.
  • Custom prompts. Adjust the prompt to focus on a specific dimension, time period, or audience. Open the wizard anytime to refine it.
  • Multiple blocks per table. Add a Headliners block and a Variance analysis block side by side on the same table.

⚙️ How it works

  1. Navigate to a table or chart in your space
  2. Click Create AI insights block on the toolbar
  3. Select an analysis type and optionally adjust the prompt
  4. Review the output and click Add to space
  5. Next month, click Generate again to update with fresh data

🍩 Meet the Donut chart

We've added a new chart type to Abacum: the Donut! See exactly how your spend breaks down, and what it adds up to, in a single view. It displays each category as a proportional slice, with the aggregated total front and center.

Use it to break down OPEX by department, headcount by team, or revenue by business unit — and always know the total you're working from without leaving the chart. Find it in the Visualization tab of the Table Builder, under the Pie chart options.

🧹 AI that cleans your messy data in one click

Inconsistent data slows everything down, Abacum now fixes it automatically. AI Data Cleaning detects and normalizes raw data values in your datasets, so your data is analysis-ready before you start modeling.

How to get started:

  1. Go to the Dataset Manager, open a dataset, and navigate to the Viewer tab
  2. Hover over the column you want to clean and click the three-dot menu (⋮)
  3. Select AI Data Cleaning — a new column will appear and process in the background
  4. Once complete, map the cleaned column to a dimension to use it in your models

👥 See who's been working in each model version

The activity view you already know from Spaces is now available in the Model Builder too.

✨ What's new

You can now see who recently accessed each version directly from the Model Builder. Open any version and click on the avatars drop-down in the top right, and you'll see a list of teammates who visited that version, ordered from most to least recent, with a timestamp for each (e.g., "14 min. ago", "2 days ago").

⚙️ How it works

Click the clock icon on any version in the Model Builder. The panel shows each user's avatar, full name, and when they last visited.

The list is scoped per version: activity in Budget won't show up in Forecast, and vice versa. For Actuals, only users who explicitly navigated to the Actuals version appear — not users whose Forecast work touched Actuals data in the background.

⏱️ CurrentMonth in Actuals Formulas

Writing formulas for Actuals just got a lot simpler. The CurrentMonth operator you already use in Budget and Forecast is now available in Actuals too.

✨ What’s new?

We've brought the CurrentMonth operator to Actuals formulas. You can now use time-based conditions (e.g., IF CurrentMonth > Dec25) directly in your historical data, with the same syntax you already know from Versions.

Whether you're adjusting for a data migration, applying seasonal logic like year-end bonuses, or handling one-off anomalies, you can now express it in a single, clean formula.

⚙️ How it works

Previously, applying time-specific logic in Actuals required creating cumbersome "helper" boolean variables. This update removes that friction, allowing for cleaner and more maintainable formulas.

Same as it is available in versions, engine now supports standard chronological operators (IS, =, >, <) for two types of time logic:

  • Absolute time: handle historical anomalies or schema changes (e.g., IF CurrentMonth > Dec25 THEN...)
  • Cyclical time: handle seasonality easily (e.g., IF CurrentMonth IS Dec THEN...)

This feature is being rolled out in batches. If you'd like to get access sooner, reach out to your support contact and we'll activate it for you.

🔄 Time circular references in Actuals

Writing formulas for Actuals just got a lot simpler. The time circular references you already use in Budget and Forecast is now available in Actuals too.

✨ What’s new?

We've extended time-based circular references (already available in Versions) to Actuals formulas. This means you can now define variables that depend on their own previous period value directly in your historical data.

For example, think of a classic cash balance model: your Opening Balance this month equals last month's Closing Balance (Opening Balance = Closing Balance.t-1 + Change in Cash). This pattern is at the core of many financial models, and now works seamlessly in Actuals.

We have also made the This keyword available for Actuals formulas.

⚙️ How it works

The engine now recognizes that a variable referencing its own previous period (e.g., A = B + A.t-1) is valid time-based logic, not a circular error. Your models calculate correctly across periods, just as they do in Versions.

This feature is being rolled out in batches. If you'd like to get access sooner, reach out to your support contact and we'll activate it for you.
