Preview transformations in the Dataset Manager

We've got some good news to share 📰
Now our Dataset Manager also shows the columns of the transformed data 😲

When you add a transformation action in the Transform tab, the new columns will now be displayed at the very right of the dataset manager preview window. You can then directly map the new column as a measure or dimension under the Column Settings tab.

Also, we reduced the number of rows displayed to improve performance 🚀

Check out the Abacum Academy to learn more about 🔗 managing transformed data.

- Preview negative values hyphened e.g.  -1000

From SHIFT to .t-n

This time we're not adding a new function, but removing one instead ☹️ but don't worry, it's all for the sake of simplicity 😃

If you've been building your Actual's reports on Abacum, you've probably already used the function SHIFT in case you wanted to retrieve the value of a previous period of another variable -> this is especially useful to get the BoM by referencing the last EoM of the MRR or the Cash flow for instance.

But starting today, we are no longer using SHIFT(Variable, n) and you can now use Variable.t-n

We made this shift of letting go of the SHIFT (🙃), and replacing it with ".t-n", to make it easier for you to reference past results in the Actuals formulas, and to merge with the Versions' formula syntax that was already using it 🚀

".t-/+n" instead of ".Current-/+n"

We have some exciting news to share - we’ve made improvements to Abacum that will make your modeling experience even better!
You can now reference past or future time periods in your forecast formulas using the .t-/+n notation in your forecast formulas 🕥🕔

This small but significant change is designed to improve the readability and editing of Abacum formulas. As a universal symbol for time, “t” is much easier to write than “Current”. We believe this shorter syntax will make your modeling experience smoother and more efficient.

Happy modeling 🧮

'Save as' improvements 🗂️

We've made 2 improvements to the table builder when saving a new table using the 'Save as' feature.

1. When you make a copy of an existing table using the 'Save as' feature, you'll be able to continue building on the new copy of the table without affecting the original.

2.  When you use the 'Save as' feature to create visualisations, they will be automatically replaced in the space upon saving. Now you don't need to manually search for the table you just created and add it to the space.

Try it out and let us know what you think!

Highlight dimension filters on the formulas

We’re always looking for ways to enhance the user experience, and today we’ve made some small yet impactful improvements to modeling on Abacum:

Dimension filters are now colored in the formula editor ✏️

This simple change makes it much easier to read your formulas and quickly identify which dimensions and dimension items are being used to filter your data.

Emojis on Spaces are now optional

We understand that while emojis can add a fun and playful element to your Spaces, they may not always suit all audiences.

Starting today, you can choose whether or not to include emojis on Spaces titles.

To turn off emojis, simply navigate to your company settings and toggle off the option that says "Emojis."

Duplicate tables and charts

Now you can easily create a copy of the same table or chart, without having to start from scratch each time.

Go to the 3-dots menu and click on 'Duplicate' to create a copy of that table/chart.
