Between with Estimates for Charts

Why?

Until now, you could create tables using the Between with Estimates time preset, but you were not able to use it for charts.

What?

We are now are allowing you to create charts when using the Between with Estimates time preset. This is particularly useful for scenario planning, as it will help you visualize multiple versions in one single chart and compare them next to each other.

Configure your existing datasets

What's new?

You are now able to re-access the configuration dataset modal at any point. This allows you to change one column type (text, numeric, date) to another if initially you didn’t set the type correct or you set a column to ignore.

Why does it matter?

We hope this gives you an extra level of autonomy, and you no longer need to rely on support team to do these kind of changes.

What’s next
This configuration modal is only available for datasets that have been directly created from the app. This is the reason why you might not see this option on some of your datasets. Our next focus will be to adapt the ones that were not created from the app so that all of the datasets allow this settings.

You can find more information about how this works in the Abacum Academy.

Exciting News: Improved Month Selector for Data Sync!

We're thrilled to announce an enhancement to our platform—specifically, the month selector during data synchronization has been revamped for a more seamless experience! Now, you have the flexibility to swiftly choose a range or individual months with ease.

How does it work?

  1. Access Calendar View: When syncing a transactional type dataset (non-snapshot), click on "Sync," and you'll get a calendar view.
  2. Select Individual Months: Simply click on specific months to add them to the sync selector.
  3. Choose a Range: For a continuous range, click on one month, and hold down "Shift" while clicking on the end month.

These enhancements are designed to simplify your data synchronization process. We're excited for you to explore the improved features!

Create datasets from any integration autonomously

Exciting News! You can now independently create datasets for Netsuite, Salesforce, Xero, and Sage Intacct without depending on our support team. This signifies that all integration types are accessible directly from the app.

How does this work?

  1. Navigate to "Create Dataset": Click on "Create Dataset," where you'll find the list of available integrations depending on your organization's settings.
  2. Select Your Integration: Choose the integration that aligns with your needs seamlessly.
  3. Dataset Configuration: Fill in any additional settings required to tailor the integration to your specifications.

For a more in-depth guide on each integration, explore the Abacum Academy. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further assistance.

Happy integrating!

Display empty variables on tables

Why?

Until now, you were not able to display variables with no values on your tables. This meant the Admin needed to manually add dummy values (e.g. 0.00000001) to at least one month that was present in the table in order to display them.

What?

From now on, variables with no values (null) won't be hidden from tables. You will now be able to seamlessly set up tables with empty variables for budget owners, eliminating the need for dummy values and streamlining the process.

Considerations

  • Since variables are empty, despite displaying the drill-down arrow, no dimensions will appear.
  • We will still not display any variables in the following tables:
    • Tabular tables
    • Pivot tables
    • Tables with dimensions above variables in Row groups

Further improvements to editable cell styling in tables

What's new?

If you double-click on a cell in a table that is not editable, it will now momentarily flash all editable cells in blue.

Why does it matter?

You'll now be able to easily see all editable cells at once instead of only upon hover.

Notes:

  • This feature has been partially rolled out. If you do not yet have access please contact your implementation team or customer success manager.
  • As part of this release, opening transaction details on an Actuals cell is now done through right-clicking.

New styling to identify editable cells in tables

What's new?

You will now see a pencil icon when hovering over any editable cell in a table. Simply click this icon to open the manual input panel and add manual inputs.

Why does it matter?

This should make it easier for you to identify which cells are editable. Additionally, the styling will no longer overlap with custom table formatting like it did when we coloured the cells striped/blue.

Further improvements

In the coming weeks we'll make it possible to view all editable cells at once instead of only upon hover. Stay tuned!

Select which variables to download manual inputs for

What's new?

You can now download manual inputs for specific selected variables in a model, instead of all variables.

Why does it matter?

This makes it much easier to partially update manual inputs for any given model. For example, if you want to only update operating costs.

How does it work?

In the Version Data page, select "Download manual inputs". You'll then be able to select which variables you'd like to download.

Note: this feature has been partially rolled out. If you do not yet have access please contact your implementation team or customer success manager.

New Excel Export

What?

Exporting Abacum tables to Excel is now more straightforward and aligned with what you see in the space.

How does it work?

  • Old Excel export is now “Download Data.”
  • Click on the “Download Excel” button and get a new export with the same content as the one you see in your table.

Considerations

  • Currently, the export only downloads the content of the table to Excel (does not include formatting) and it's not available for tables with dimensions as column groups.
  • The exported data will only include rows that were visible at the time of saving the table. Rows that are visible due to drilling down in space will not be included in the download.

Between with Estimates

What's new?

You can now show estimate data in the Between timeframe, similar to how it works in Working Forecast or Full Year Estimate.

You have all the flexibility in terms of time period and aggregation the Between timeframe offers, and additionally, for all the months without Actuals you can now choose to fill it with any Forecast or Budget.

Why does it matter?

This unlocks a lot of different use cases allowing full flexibility to combine Actuals with Estimates, with some main ones being:

  • Quarterly estimates
  • Working forecast for any time period

In addition, it's now possible to also combine Actuals with Budget data instead of only Forecast.

Considerations:

  • This new feature works only when using the Between time preset
  • Between with Estimates will not give you any results when using charts (Coming soon!)
