Drill-down in bar charts

What's new?

We’ve introduced a new drill-down functionality for bar charts, allowing you to dive deeper into their data with just a click. Now, you can interact directly with bar charts in spaces and explore data across multiple dimensions for more granular insights.

How does it work?

  • This feature is available exclusively for bar charts.
  • By default, the drill-down feature is inactive for all existing charts. To activate it, go to the Bar Chart section in Table Builder and toggle on Enable Drill-down. For new bar charts, this setting is enabled automatically.
  • Click on any bar in the chart to drill down into data for a specific period.
  • When you click a bar, Abacum displays all dimension items within the next row group below the top level.
  • You can continue drilling down through additional row groups, exploring details layer by layer as defined in the table setup.
  • Breadcrumbs are generated for easy navigation back to previous levels, allowing for smooth exploration without losing context.

What's next?

  • This is the first iteration and we will keep improving the feature based on your feedback.

New function: CUMSUM year-to-date and quarter-to-date

We've added a highly requested function! Calculating year-to-date (YTD) or quarter-to-date (QTD) amount in actuals is now easier than ever. No more complex workarounds — just a simple, intuitive function to get the YTD or QTD totals you need.

How does it work?

We’ve added a new optional parameter to the CUMSUM formula, allowing you to calculate the running total from the start of the year or quarter up to the current month.

How to use it:

  • CUMSUM (measure, yearly) FROM DATASET or CUMSUM (measure, quarterly) FROM DATASET
  • CUMSUM (variable, yearly) or CUMSUM (variable, quarterly)

Currently, this function is available for actuals formulas, but we’ll be enabling it for version formulas very soon. Stay tuned!

Autonomously manage your company palette!

What’s new?
You can now create and manage a unique company color palette directly in their company settings, allowing for autonomous and custom brand alignment in charts and tables. Define up to 8 custom colors using HEX codes or an interactive picker for a more tailored visualization experience.

How does it work?

  • Access the Company Palette: Find it under General Settings in the Company Settings menu.
  • Customizing colors: Add up to 8 colors by entering HEX codes or using the color picker.
  • Updating: Edit colors anytime. This will change the color of all the charts which are using the Company colors.

Space version selector

What's new?

We’ve added a space-level version selector! Now, super admins and admins can apply a version across all components in a space with a single setting, automatically syncing tables, charts, and metric cards to the selected version.

How does it work?

  • Set the version filter: Super admins and admins can add a new space filter and choose a version that applies across all linked components.
  • Link components: Use the Space version placeholder in each table, chart, or metric card you want synced to the selector.
  • Automatic sync: Once set, all linked components reflect the chosen version, simplifying updates and keeping data consistent.

Note: Currently, only versions are supported. Scenarios, estimates, and member-level access are on the way! Additionally, version datasets can’t yet be linked to the space version—this will be enabled once scenarios are available.

What's next?

  • Scenarios at the space level.
  • Estimates using the space version and scenario.
  • Unlock functionality for members to interact with the selector.
  • Space version and scenario for version datasets

Bulk actions for manual adjustments

Manually adjusting datasets can be time-consuming, especially when dealing with large volumes of data.

That’s why we are excited to introduce bulk actions for manual adjustments, allowing you to efficiently manage multiple rows at once.

How does it work?

We have added checkboxes to the left-hand side of the dataset manager to enable multi-row selection. You can now select or deselect multiple rows with ease.

You will also find a counter that displays the number of rows affected by each bulk action, providing real-time visibility of your changes.

Available bulk actions:

  • Exclude: Exclude rows that were in the raw data.
  • Include: Reintroduce rows that were in the raw data.
  • Delete: Remove manually added rows.

Tables & charts manager

What’s new?
Until now, managing tables and charts has been a bit tricky. Tables either lived within a space or were floating in limbo, making it hard to keep track of them. With this update, you can finally manage them with ease through the new "Tables and charts" section in Space manager!

How does it work?
New "Tables and charts" tab in Space manager, which has the following features:
  • For all user roles
    • Centralized listing: View all your tables and charts in one place.
    • Search by name: Quickly find tables and charts with the search bar.
      • Filtering by the "Asset type" in the search bar will also narrow down the results.
  • Sort columns
    • For super admins & admins
      • Check usage: See where tables are used and in which spaces.
      • Delete tables
  • Only super admins
    • View restrictions: Know if a table is restricted at a glance.

Version dataset upload and download

We’ve introduced new features to streamline your version dataset data management process:

  1. Download version dataset data

You can now download your version dataset data directly to Excel. This feature is accessible from the 3-dots menu in both the top bar and the versions section. The downloaded file will include all actuals and forecasted rows, matching the current view in the dataset viewer.

  2. Upload version dataset inputs

A new option has been added to the 3-dots menu to upload version inputs. This feature allows you to upload Excel files for bulk updates to your forecast data. The upload process includes validation checks, and you’ll be notified of any errors or warnings.

Introducing the AI classifier

Introducing the AI classifier

We are very excited to launch the AI classifier, your new data categorization tool!

What’s new?

Tired of manual data categorization? Our AI classifier automates the process, saving you time and ensuring accuracy.

How it works

  1. Create a transformation. Go to the ‘Transform’ sidebar and create a new AI classifier transformation.
  2. Train your model. Provide relevant, descriptive data to train the AI classifier for your specific categorization task.
  3. Watch it learn. The more data you provide, the more accurate your predictions will become.

How can it help you?

  • Save time. The AI classifier automates a tedious and error-prone task. Whether you’re categorizing bank transactions, capturing accurate supplier info, or segmenting customers by type, you can now let the AI classifier do the heavy lifting!
  • Improve accuracy. Get reliable and consistent categorization results.
  • Reuse models. Apply trained models to similar tasks across multiple datasets.

Ready to try it? Explore the AI classifier in the Abacum Academy and start categorizing your data with ease! To learn more about this feature, please contact your Customer Success Manager.

Quick arithmetic calculations in manual input panel or datasets

We’re excited to introduce a feature that lets you input quick arithmetic calculations directly into numeric cells within the Manual Input Panel or Actuals/Version dataset panel. This makes budgeting easier by allowing you to handle simple calculations right in the platform.

How does it work?

  • You can enter calculations (e.g., =100 / 2) directly into any numeric cell.
  • Supported arithmetic operators include +, -, *, /, (, and ).
  • This feature is available across:
    • Datasets - Actuals - Manual Adjustments
    • Datasets - Versions - Manual Adjustments
    • Versions - Manual Input
  • If the calculation is valid, you’ll see the result instantly. If there’s an error, a message will prompt you to correct the input.
