Connect ChatGPT and Claude directly to your BlueConic tenant

Use browser sign-in to bring permission-scoped BlueConic data into your AI tools.

BlueConic’s Model Context Protocol, or MCP, server now supports direct connections from ChatGPT, Claude, VS Code, and Cursor through browser sign-in. An administrator configures the OAuth application and approved access, then you connect the AI tool to your tenant’s MCP address.

The connection runs as the BlueConic user who signs in, within their permissions and the application’s read scopes. The tenant MCP server provides read-only access, so your team brings BlueConic context into AI-assisted research without changing tenant configuration.

This reduces local setup and helps your team answer questions about customer data and configuration from the tools they already use. AI-tool settings and organization policies still govern connector availability.

Benefits

  • Connect supported AI tools without a local MCP process.
  • Use browser sign-in for per-user access.
  • Keep reads within user permissions and approved scopes.
  • Bring BlueConic context into existing research workflows.

Connect your AI agents to BlueConic

Connect your own AI agents to BlueConic through the Agent-to-Agent (A2A) protocol. Search your tenant’s configuration and get Growth Play recommendations based on your goals and existing setup. Both agents provide read-only access and respect your configured permissions, helping your team bring BlueConic context into existing AI workflows.

This feature is available in private preview. Contact support to join the program or learn more.

REST API

  • Information is now available in the BlueConic REST API v2 documentation site about the "triggerOnPropertyChange" and "triggerOnEventAdded" options that can be passed on in the payload to the Bulk endpoint.
  • The Groups API now correctly evaluates the conditions “has a value” and “is empty” when returning matching groups for a segment.
  • If privacy legislation and consent objectives are changed for a profile at the same time, those two changes are now correctly shown on that profile’s Privacy Management tab.

Python API

  • On the BlueConic Python API documentation site, the date in the example code under "Using timeline events objects" was updated to prevent errors when creating timeline events.

Segment-based Group exports added to REST API and Python API

Q4-2024 Release

You can now use the BlueConic REST API v2 and Python API to export group data to third-party systems based on specific BlueConic segment definitions. When a segment is evaluated and profiles are returned, the matching group data is included in separate sections of the API response, similar to how Segments are handled. This allows you to access both profile and associated group information efficiently.

In the REST API, this is achieved using the expand filter. The following options were added as part of this release:

  • Use profiles.profile.groups to include all group information associated with profiles.

  • Use profiles.profile.matchingGroups to include only the groups that match the segment criteria.

In the Python API, this functionality is provided through two new parameters: groups and matching_groups.

This enhancement removes the dependency on private APIs or external platforms (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud) to configure this type of filtering. It improves platform flexibility and efficiency, allowing you to manage your group data more effectively for precise targeting. Additionally, it helps you execute highly personalized use cases based on users' group affiliations.

Note: This Groups API export functionality is now available through export goals in the SFTP Connection, as outlined in this entry below.

Seeing a sample API response

In this example, group data is returned in separate sections (matchingGroups and groups), allowing for a clear and organized representation of the data.

REST API updates made

Q2-2024

Groups REST APIs now public

Groups REST APIs are now accessible to all customers, allowing you to seamlessly perform CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) operations on groups. The BlueConic REST API v2 site was updated to include documentation on these Public Groups REST APIs.

To learn more about our groups capacity, review the article Creating and managing groups.

Group refinement capabilities introduced in the REST API

Group refinement capabilities were added to the REST API, providing filtering capabilities for group retrieval. This allows you to target subsets of groups based on attributes like last modified date or group properties. Using these capabilities, you can now efficiently access specific groups from external data warehouses and align group and profile API features.

For more information, review the Get groups for group type section of the BlueConic REST API v2 documentation site.

Segment refinement capabilities introduced in the REST API

To enhance performance and reduce data volume, segment refinement capabilities were added to the REST API. This includes:

  • The ability to retrieve only updated profiles within a specific segment, ensuring that your outreach or analysis is always based on the latest information. It also saves time and improves efficiency by preventing the need to sift through outdated data.

  • The introduction of IS_EMPTY and NOT_CONTAINS_ANY filters, helping to quickly identify gaps in data collection and allowing for targeted data enrichment efforts. This can greatly enhance the quality of the data insights you derive.

  • The ability to apply Objective filters to only retrieve data from customers who have consented, therefore respecting user privacy and adhering to data protection regulations. This enhances your organization's reputation and reduces the risk of legal issues.

  • The ability to identify profiles with UNKNOWN consent status and proactively seek consent. This helps expand the profiles you can actively engage with, while also complying with consent requirements.

For more information, review the Get profiles in segment section of the BlueConic REST API v2 documentation site.

Channels and domains now retrievable through the REST API

Through the REST API, you can now make GET requests to retrieve all channels and domains (and their respective aliases), as well as channel-specific information given a channel ID. These enhancements provide a streamlined way to link back channel and domain data already configured in a tenant with data insights captured by BlueConic listeners into your custom dashboards.

For more information, review the BlueConic REST API v2 site or the article Adding channels in BlueConic.

BlueConic REST API documentation site enhanced

Various sections of the BlueConic REST API v2 documentation site at https://rest.apidoc.blueconic.com were updated to include additional explanation, examples, and article links to the BlueConic Knowledge Base. For instance, under Create, update, or delete one or more profiles, messaging and examples were added for deleting a single profile and updating objectives for a single profile.

Group filtering added to the Python API

Q1-2024 Release

To reduce time to value, enhance data accuracy and efficiency, and reduce operational cost, the Python API now allows you to filter groups—in a similar way to how you filter profiles. When you use these new filtering capabilities, the system will only process relevant groups that meet your specified criteria, ensuring optimal system performance (without compromising security or scalability).

For more information, review Filtering profiles and groups on the BlueConic Python API documentation site.
