Scale open-time email recommendations — with greater reliability and model flexibility

Improved performance and support for custom recommendation models in Open-Time Email Recommendations.

Open-Time Email Recommendations are now more reliable at scale — and more flexible by design.

We’ve introduced performance enhancements and fixes to improve stability during high-concurrency email opens. Screenshot rendering issues have been significantly reduced, helping ensure recommendations load consistently when engagement spikes.

At the same time, teams can now bring their own recommendation models into Open-Time Email Recommendations. Custom models appear alongside existing algorithms, giving marketers more control over how products and content are selected — without changing their workflow.

We’ve also expanded image and template settings, including support for transparent PNGs and more flexible configuration options. That means recommendation blocks can better match brand guidelines while remaining easy to manage directly inside the platform.

Together, these updates strengthen open-time personalization — improving reliability, expanding intelligence, and accelerating activation inside the Customer Growth Engine.

Benefits:
• Improves reliability during high-volume email opens
• Enables use of custom recommendation models for deeper personalization
• Expands image and template flexibility to match brand requirements
• Reduces manual configuration and troubleshooting effort

Bring real-time decisioning to email

Determine the right CTA, image, or offer at the moment an email is opened — not just when it’s sent.

Email is still one of the most powerful marketing channels — but most email content is locked in at send time. That means calls to action, images, and offers can quickly become outdated or misaligned with a customer’s latest behavior.

Now, marketers can use BlueConic Dialogues for open-time email personalization. When a recipient opens an email, BlueConic evaluates real-time profile data, business rules, and Next Best Action logic to determine which variant to show — dynamically. The platform can decide which CTA, image, or offer is most relevant at that exact moment.

Configure a Dialogue for the Email channel, define placements, and generate a snippet at the connection level to embed in their email template. When the email is opened, BlueConic selects the most relevant variant — independently of the ESP.

Benefits:
• Enables true open-time personalization based on real-time customer intelligence
• Applies Next Best Action logic directly within email
• Supports A/B and multivariate experimentation for CTAs and offers
• Works across ESPs with no dependency on a specific provider

Use SQL and Group Imports in your BigQuery Connection

Import exactly the data you need — and map it directly to profiles or groups.

You can now define a custom SQL query when importing data from Google BigQuery. Instead of selecting a full table, teams can write queries to retrieve only the records they need — whether that’s a historical load, daily incremental updates, or more complex joins.

Queries can be previewed before launch, and errors are surfaced instantly. That means faster validation, fewer failed runs, and more control over what flows into BlueConic.

We’ve also added support for group imports. BigQuery data can now be mapped directly to groups in the BlueConic data model — such as households or companies — using the same SQL flexibility.

Together these updates move teams  from warehouse to activation with fewer steps and less overhead. It’s a faster way to operationalize data inside your Customer Growth Engine.

Benefits:
• Import only the data you need with custom SQL queries
• Validate queries upfront with built-in preview and error handling
• Map BigQuery data directly to groups like households or companies
• Reduce connection run times and system load

Use your own recommendation models across events and data processors

Apply custom recommendation logic wherever you activate recommendations.

BlueConic now supports bring your own recommendation models in Recommendations as an event and the Recommendations data processor. This expands where custom recommendation logic can be used, especially in scenarios where standard Dialogues aren’t a fit.

With this update, models of type recommendation appear in the algorithm list, using the same selection flow as dialogues. Teams can use event-based recommendations for custom frontends (such as React), controlled rendering setups, or mobile apps. The recommendations data processor also supports custom models, making it easier to send recommendation data to your email service provider and render recommendations directly in HTML email templates.

This added flexibility helps teams apply consistent decisioning logic across more activation paths — supporting faster execution and greater control.

Benefits:
• Apply your own recommendation models in events and data processors using the same selection flow as Dialogues
• Support custom rendering for modern web frameworks and mobile apps
• Send recommendation data to ESPs for HTML-based, device-aware email templates
• Extend recommendation usage beyond standard Dialogues without added complexity

Run data processors during Salesforce Marketing Cloud exports

Export cleaner, ready-to-use data to Salesforce Marketing Cloud—without manual fixes.

You can now use export data processors when sending data from BlueConic to Salesforce Marketing Cloud. This enhancement adds a dedicated data processor step to the Salesforce Marketing Cloud export flow, giving teams more control over how data is prepared before it lands in SFMC.

Previously, date fields and other transformations required workarounds outside of BlueConic, often forcing teams to export values as text and fix formatting downstream. With data processors available during export, transformations happen natively in BlueConic—reducing manual effort and minimizing the risk of errors.

By bringing data processors into the Salesforce Marketing Cloud integration, teams can move faster from data to activation. This makes exports more flexible, supports more complex data sets, and helps accelerate value across the Customer Growth Engine.

Benefits:
• Eliminates manual date conversions and downstream transformations
• Enables cleaner, more reliable data exports to Salesforce Marketing Cloud
• Unlocks broader use of data processors in SFMC workflows
• Speeds up time-to-activation with fewer operational steps

Faster, smarter SFMC email event imports

Daily email engagement events sync faster — with no extra overhead.

The Salesforce Marketing Cloud connection now exports only the most recent day of sent, open, and click events. This keeps imports focused on fresh engagement data while maintaining a consistent daily sync to the profile timeline.

Exports are generated on a rolling basis throughout the day, with one file per day picked up by the connection. This streamlined approach improves run-time performance without changing how you configure or manage the connection.

The result is a more efficient way to use email engagement data for suppression and activation — helping teams move from insight to action faster inside the Customer Growth Engine.

Benefits:
• Speeds up SFMC imports by focusing on daily engagement events
• Improves connection run times and operational reliability
• Keeps profile timelines current for suppression use cases
• Reduces processing overhead without changing existing workflows

To apply updates, go to the Plugins Gallery and install the latest version manually.

Improve post-processor batch efficiency with changed profiles

Batch connections skip profiles without updated data by default.

When running a post-processor connection in Batch, you can process only profiles that have changed since the last run. This option is enabled by default.

BlueConic determines which profiles to include by checking for changes in the profile properties selected in the Data to use step. Only profiles with updated values since the previous run are processed. This can significantly reduce the number of profiles included in each batch.

This update improves efficiency in scenarios where batch connections evaluate large audiences but update only a limited number of profiles between runs.

 Benefits:

  • Limits batch processing to profiles with changed data
  • Skips unchanged profiles automatically
  • Reduces batch size for large audiences
  • Improves performance for frequently running connections

This change requires updating the post-processor connection plugin to the latest version.

Prepare and control webhook data with Data Processors

Manipulate, filter, and enrich data before it’s sent to external systems.

Webhook connections in BlueConic now support Data Processors, giving you more control over how data is prepared before it’s sent to an external endpoint. You can manipulate or filter data directly in the CDP, helping ensure that only relevant, well-structured data is shared.

This update supports common use cases such as formatting dates, hashing email addresses, encrypting request data, or determining whether a webhook should be called based on specific criteria. You can also make segment membership and timeline events available as inputs, allowing you to send more contextual and meaningful data to downstream systems.

By centralizing data preparation inside BlueConic, Data Processors reduce the need for custom logic outside the platform and help teams activate customer data faster.

Benefits:

  • Filter webhook execution based on profile-level criteria
  • Prepare and protect data with formatting, hashing, and encryption
  • Add richer context to outbound data using segment membership and timeline events
  • Centralize data preparation inside the CDP to reduce downstream handling
