"Show empty variables" at table level

Why?

Recently, we introduced the “Show empty variables” feature, changing the existing behaviour and displaying all variables in tables. Prior to this, we were hiding by default all empty variables from tables. Some admins, comfortable with the old behaviour, expressed a desire for more control over when to display empty variables.

What?

New “Show empty variables” toggle

How does it work?

  • Located in the Visualization section of Table Builder, beneath “Show Total”.
  • Deactivated by default, maintaining the old behaviour which hides empty variables.
  • Users can activate the toggle to display empty variables, aligning with the new behaviour introduced.

Considerations

  • Since variables are empty, despite displaying the drill-down arrow, no dimensions will appear.
  • Even if the toggle is ON, we will still not display any variables in the following tables:
    • Tabular tables
    • Pivot tables
    • Tables with dimensions above variables in Row groups
