Report Subscriptions

As of Wednesday, April 24th, users can now create email subscriptions for any report within their tenant.

To access the subscription UI, a user will first click into a report and then select “...” in the upper right corner of the report page. Users can create a subscription for Ternary users and people without access to the platform by inputting their email addresses. Users can select the frequency (daily, weekly, monthly) and a specified hour in which the subscription email will be sent out. Multiple subscriptions can be tied to the same report within a customer tenant.

Updates to GCP Committed Spend Manager - On Demand Cost graph

We have made two updates to the On Demand Cost graph within the GCP Committed Spend Manager:

  1. Resource-based Committed Use Discounts (CUDs) are now included in the graph
  2. Spend-based CUD recommendations are now shown as incremental coverage on top of any existing owned CUDs

Both of these enhancements are reflected in the “Recommendation” and “Existing Coverage” categories as displayed in the graph legend.

Deprecation of Legacy GCP CUD Visibility page

We have deprecated the Legacy CUD Visibility page. From the Ternary navigation, clicking Commitment Discounts > GCP Commitments now defaults to the new GCP Committed Spend Manager. Note: users can no longer toggle back and forth between the legacy CUD page and the new Committed Spend Manager.

Update to Ramp Plans - Percent Growth

On Monday, April 8th, we will be introducing a percent growth option for breakpoints. Breakpoints allow users to divide the time period within a Ramp Plan for easier forecasting and benchmarking.

Previously, users could only input specific dollar amounts within Breakpoints. Now, users can input percent (%) period over period growth values. Whether your organization is accustomed to using percent growth values or does not have projected spend targets yet, this update to Ramp Plans provides the flexibility to help you get started with scenario planning.

Update to Alert Rule Configurations - Filter by Project Name

Previously, users could filter eligible spend by Project ID, which proved to be cumbersome with certain naming conventions across clouds. Now, users can filter alert rules by Project Name, in addition to the existing filter options: Accounts, Project IDs, Services, and SKUs.

Update to GCP Spend-Based Committed Use Discount Recommendations

We have updated GCP spend-based Committed Use Discount (CUD) planning to exclusively leverage Ternary’s recommendation engine. Earlier this year, Google suspended use of a few API endpoints, resulting in delays, obsolete recommendations, or the inability to generate recommendations. With Ternary’s new algorithm, we have reduced the dependency on Google’s API endpoints and can once again provide ‘fresh’ recommendations.

MSP Admin Console

We’re excited to introduce a new Managed Service Provider (MSP) Admin console to help partners seamlessly manage customer tenants with Ternary. As of Wednesday, March 27th, partners are able to see ‘MSP Admin’ in the navigation pane.

With the MSP Admin console, partners can:

  • Invite new users to their MSP tenant with global admin permissions
  • Add, edit, and deactivate their customer tenants
  • Easily access all of their customer tenants
  • Add, revoke, edit users in any of their customer tenants

Note: this release applies to partners only and does not impact how channel customers (i.e., customers accessing Ternary via an MSP) use and navigate their tenants.

Update to Anomaly Detection Insights

Users are now able to see the relevant grouping categories (e.g., usage account, resource ID, tag etc.) driving the alert without the need to click into the details for each alert. The summary table now displays ‘Groupings’ as a column and the values relevant to each alert within that column. As with the other columns in the summary table, these values are sortable, enabling users to quickly and easily view the most impactful data for their organization.

Update to GCP CUD Recommendations - Resource Level Billing

For GCP Committed Use Discount (CUD) recommendations, the preconfigured reports that show the applicable usage relevant to the recommended purchase are now set to be broken down at the resource level, including tags and usage account.
