Introducing the Ternary Optimization Hub - Private Beta

The Ternary Optimization Hub is a new multi-cloud experience that simplifies how teams surface and act on savings opportunities across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.

This centralized dashboard brings together usage, rate, and anomaly insights with interactive filters and KPIs to help you quickly identify high-impact savings across your environment.

Ternary already provides resource utilization recommendations by service and provider (for example, Compute → Azure Virtual Machines). With the Ternary Optimization Hub, these insights are now unified into two clear categories: idle recommendations and rightsizing recommendations. You can easily filter, refine, and drill into specific opportunities with greater clarity and control.

Looking ahead, we’ll be expanding the Ternary Optimization Hub to include commitment-based discount management. Rather than navigating the existing separate commitment pages for each cloud provider, you’ll be able to evaluate opportunities across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud in one place, while still retaining the ability to drill down by provider.

Stay tuned for more details!

Why it matters

The Ternary Optimization Hub enables you to prioritize action more effectively, collaborate with better context, and unlock greater value from your multi-cloud spend.

If you’re interested in providing feedback as part of our Private Beta program, please contact Ternary Customer Success at success@ternary.app.

Update to Billing Rules Engine - New Status Column

The Ternary Billing Rules Engine, used by both managed service providers and customers, now displays the real-time processing status for each rule.

A new Status column has been added to the billing rules table to show whether a rule is:

  • Active
  • In progress
  • Failed

This enhancement makes it easier to monitor rule execution and confirm successful processing directly from the user interface.

Support for Google Cloud CUD Metadata Export

Ternary now supports Google Cloud’s Committed Use Discounts (CUD) Metadata Export, introduced by Google in July.

If your organization uses spend-based CUDs, enabling this export allows Ternary to ingest and display enhanced commitment insights. This includes commitment terms, expiration dates, and utilization data alongside your existing billing exports.

Learn how to enable this feature in our documentation article.

Updates to MSP Billing Statements - Search Filter and International Addresses

We’ve introduced two new enhancements to Ternary MSP Billing Statements to improve usability and expand support for global partners.

What’s new

  • Search by tenant name or ID. A new search filter makes it easier to locate specific customers. You can now quickly find your clients using either their tenant name or unique ID.
  • Support for non-US addresses. Partner and client billing information now supports international formats. When "International" is selected in the country field, a freeform address field will appear, allowing entry of non-US billing details.

Why it matters

These updates help partners manage billing operations more efficiently, whether you're navigating a large list of tenants or serving clients outside the United States.

MSP Bill Splitting - Dimension-Based Account Selection

We’re introducing new controls that give MSPs more flexibility when configuring which Sub Accounts are assigned to each child tenant with shared billing.

What’s new

Dimension-based account selection. During integration setup, you can now select cloud Sub Accounts using billing hierarchy dimensions such as:

  • Sub Account ID or Name (Subscription, Project, Linked Account)
  • Billing Parent Groups, including Azure Invoice Sections or GCP Folders / Ancestry Paths

Automatic inclusion of new Sub Accounts. When a higher-level billing parent is selected, any new Sub Accounts added under that parent are automatically included in the corresponding tenant. This reduces the need for manual updates.

Why it matters

These enhancements help MSPs:

  • Align customer tenants with the native billing structure of their cloud environments
  • Reduce maintenance by automatically capturing account changes
  • Avoid unallocated or misallocated billing data across tenants
  • Maintain clean, scalable, and accurate billing configurations across a growing customer base

Self-Serve Client Certificate Regeneration

Ternary now supports self-service certificate renewal directly within the platform, reducing manual effort and ensuring smoother certificate management.

On the Ternary Admin page, you can view the current certificate expiry date, with warnings provided as the expiration approaches. To renew, simply select the status button and update any data integrations upon successful completion of the renewal process.

Why it matters

This enhancement gives administrators more control over certificate management, reduces reliance on support intervention, and helps prevent unexpected disruptions by ensuring certificates are kept up to date.

Support for Municipal Fiscal Year Patterns

Ternary now supports municipal fiscal calendars, expanding beyond traditional 4-4-5 structures to better serve public sector organizations.

Previously, the platform offered fixed fiscal patterns commonly used by retail and financial services organizations. In response to feedback from our SLED (state and local government and education) customers, we’ve introduced a more flexible, date-driven fiscal year option.

What’s new

  • Fixed start date. Fiscal years can now begin on a specific calendar date (for example, July 1 of each year).
  • Calendar-aligned months. Fiscal months now follow standard calendar months, preserving their natural lengths of 28 to 31 days.
  • Standard weekly grouping. Weeks are grouped using the standard Sunday through Saturday format. Fiscal weeks are no longer required as a core reporting dimension.

Why it matters

This enhancement allows government and municipal users to configure fiscal calendars that reflect their actual reporting practices, supporting greater financial reporting accuracy.

Update to Budgets - Enhanced Filtering

We’re pleased to announce expanded controls for filtering and viewing budgets within Ternary.

What’s new

  • Custom date ranges for actuals. You can now define custom date ranges when viewing actuals against your budgets. This allows for more flexible analysis of current and forecasted spend over any selected timeframe.
  • Filter by budget amount. The budgets feature now includes filtering by budget amount, helping you quickly focus on specific cost thresholds or ranges that matter most to your workflows.

Why it matters

These updates make it easier to perform targeted analysis and better align budget insights with your financial review cadence.
