We’re excited to announce that you can now navigate to any page within the Ternary platform by searching the name or related keywords. The Ternary Search engine can be found on the side navigation pane above the “Home” button or by simply pressing “/” on the keyboard.
With the Ternary Search engine, you can quickly and easily:
We’re pleased to introduce compute insights for Microsoft Azure Virtual Machines! Accessible in the navigation under Resource Utilization, the insights pages enhance resource-level visibility with the addition of usage data. With this release, Ternary now provides usage optimization recommendations for Azure Virtual Machines.
The following recommendations will be made as applicable:
We have added the ability for users to load unit economics data via the Ternary user interface. Previously, this was only available via BigQuery Table loads. Now, individual users can upload a .csv file with business inputs such as 'Active Users' or 'Transactions Processed' that can be married with cost data to determine a cost per unit of output.
We have restructured the platform navigation to more closely align with the phases of FinOps and the naming of key FinOps capabilities.
The following changes have been made to enhance your user experience:
Please note the MSP console is only visible to partners.
We’re excited to introduce a new dashboard providing MSPs with a holistic view across their entire FinOps service business. Under the MSP navigation pane, partners can now see summarized views of cost history and monthly trends, anomalies, savings opportunities, cloud data status, and user activity and access across all of their customer tenants. This centralized dashboard streamlines customer management by enabling MSPs to easily view key information across all customers and all clouds, without having to access each individual customer tenant. The images below show two of the five views available in the new MSP dashboard.
With Ternary, you can now create widgets that display the estimated total savings associated with rate and/or usage recommendations. These widgets can be added to any dashboard. We have created system widgets for you to pick from or you can build your own. You will be able to update and delete any of the widgets that you have created.
With this release, we have updated the display of the Ternary Home Dashboard for all users.
We have removed the “Home Meters” at the top of the page (as outlined in red below) with the intention to grant you more flexibility.
You will now be able to fully customize your Home Dashboard view with KPIs and Savings Opportunity widgets (as outlined in blue below).
The Home Dashboard has been updated to include reports for Month to Date spend vs Last Month to Date spend (Net cost), Last Month Total Spend (Net cost) and Total Savings Opportunities. If you prefer to use Gross Cost, which would align with the previous “Home Meters”, we have created default system reports for both Month to Date vs Last Month to Date (Gross) and Last Month Total Spend (Gross). You can easily remove the existing reports and add the Gross Cost reports to your dashboard to replace them.
We have updated the On Demand Cost graph within the GCP Committed Spend Manager to now categorize Spend-based Committed Use Discount (CUD) recommendations into two tiers: “full utilization” and “maximum savings”. Full Utilization Recommendations are commitments that would be 100% utilized, if purchased. Maximum Savings Recommendations are commitments that would net the most savings, regardless of utilization.
Breakpoints allow you to divide the time period within a Ramp Plan for easier forecasting and benchmarking. With this release, you can now input a reason for each of your breakpoints. Any reasons that have been added, will be visible in the chart as a tooltip.
